Job Description
The Production Lead supports the daily operations of the poultry processing department by helping ensure employees perform their assigned duties safely, correctly, and efficiently. This position involves working in a fast-paced poultry processing environment and may include exposure to live birds or raw chicken products.
Responsibilities may include handling and processing poultry products, deboning, cutting, packing, weighing, moving, inspecting, and other production-related activities. The Production Lead will also assist with employee rotations, breaks, department inspections, and maintaining company quality and food safety standards.
Other duties may be assigned by supervision as needed.
Essential Functions- Make routine rounds throughout the department, focusing on the front end or back end based on assigned work area.
- Observe employees to ensure tasks are being performed safely, correctly, and according to established procedures.
- Perform periodic checks of poultry, equipment, and machinery.
- Identify and report safety, quality, equipment, or production issues to the supervisor.
- Assist with employee breaks and rotate team members between assigned jobs as needed.
- Help ensure department operations meet SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards and company requirements.
- Support supervisors with the daily organization and operation of the department.
- Attend required company training programs, meetings, and safety sessions.
- Promote a safe, productive, and positive work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or
- Up to three months of related experience or training; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous leadership or lead experience is preferred but not required.
- Poultry processing or manufacturing experience is a plus.
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with team members are important for success in this role.
Leadership experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
