Position Summary
The Site Safety Representative serves as Nexus’ on-site safety lead for mission-critical data center construction projects. This role ensures contractor compliance with Nexus safety standards, OSHA regulations, and project-specific environmental health and safety (EHS) requirements. The position acts as the client’s safety advocate in the field, proactively identifying risks, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring safe execution through all phases of construction and commissioning.

This role ensures contractor compliance with Nexus safety standards, OSHA regulations, and project-specific environmental health and safety (EHS) requirements. The position acts as the client’s safety advocate in the field, proactively identifying risks, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring safe execution through all phases of construction and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Oversight & Compliance
Serve as Nexus’ on-site safety representative and enforce Nexus safety standards. Monitor compliance with OSHA 1926 construction standards and applicable local regulations. Review and verify contractor Safety Plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs). Conduct daily site walks and formal safety audits.High-Risk Activity Monitoring
Oversee permitting and controls for: Energized electrical work and LOTO Critical lifts and crane operations Confined space entry Hot work Excavation and trenching Work at heights Monitor generator installation, fuel systems, UPS/battery systems, bus duct installation, and commissioning activities.Incident Prevention & Reporting
Lead or support investigations for incidents, near misses, and property damage. Conduct root cause analysis and verify implementation of corrective actions. Track leading and lagging safety indicators. Provide weekly and monthly safety reports to Nexus leadership.Commissioning & Turnover Coordination
Support safe system energization and phased turnover. Verify LOTO boundaries and safe sequencing during commissioning. Coordinate hazard mitigation during overlapping construction and live operations.Safety Culture & Engagement
Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings. Reinforce stop-work authority. Promote proactive hazard identification and reporting. Support emergency preparedness planning and drills.Qualifications
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred). OSHA 30-hour Construction certification (required). CSP, CHST, or equivalent certification (preferred). NFPA 70E knowledge or certification (strongly preferred)Experience
5+ years of construction safety experience. Prior experience on data center, mission-critical, industrial, or large-scale commercial construction projects. Experience with electrical safety, commissioning environments, and high-risk mechanical installations.Skills & Competencies
Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards. Electrical safety expertise, including LOTO and energized work controls. Ability to influence contractor teams without direct authority. Strong reporting and documentation skills. Excellent communication and field leadership presence. Ability to work in fast-paced, schedule-driven environments.
