Job Description
Earthworks Inc. is looking to hire a *bilingual (English/Spanish) knowledgeable and hard-working Safety Coordinator to ensure all field employees are fully trained on all equipment and performing to their fullest and safest potential. The Safety Coordinator participates and delivers training programs for existing and new employees. They determine training objectives and curriculum and develop training programs as needed, including outlines, handouts, tests and exercises and is ultimately responsible for employees continued learning of how to properly operate equipment and compliance of safety regulations and procedures.
Primary objectives:
- Discuss the importance of safety and awareness including proper hydration, proper clothing and shoes, proper lifting techniques, keeping an eye out for the safety of others.
- Train new hires on proper use of all equipment (except riding mowers) and hand tools including proper techniques for pruning, cutbacks, digging, vine and weed removal.
- Train new hires on proper fueling and storage protocols for equipment as well as the importance of chemical safety including proper mixing and use of round up.
- Set high expectation of quality of work. All things should be done the right way the first time. Quality, like safety is everyone’s job. We aren’t here to mow grass, we’re here to make things beautiful.
- Set proper expectations of work load and expected pace once assigned to crew (Pull your weight and be respectful of others)
- Discuss proper protocol for employee issues/grievances and how to get resolution.
- Introduce/hand off employee to new crew/foreman (make in person introduction)
Additional responsibilities:
Assist with dispatch of maintenance crews, assist with crew field training on days with no new hire training. Actively foster and improve morale/teamwork for field staff.

Education:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- Management: 1 year (Preferred)
- Landscape maintenance: 1 year (Required)
