About This Position

Road Machinery & Supplies Co. (RMS) is searching for a Vice President of Sales to join its team in Savage, MN. This position will have overall responsibility for Construction Equipment (CE) Sales and Rentals for RMS and will be responsible for developing and executing strategies intended to drive market share growth while enhancing the overall customer experience. This role will report to the President.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute the strategic vision for the company’s construction sales and rental division, driving sales strategies and accountability with a high sense of urgency while ensuring adequate territory coverage
  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team, setting expectations and managing performance to ensure the team has the right skills, knowledge and motivation to drive business results.
  • Purchase, manage and reprice inventory to accommodate the needs of the rental and sales operations.
  • Oversee Sales Administration functions
  • Manage RMS Key Performance Indicators for the CE sales and rental department, creating metrics that drive improved performance with an emphasis on share & profitable growth
  • Review, support, and participate in annual budgeting; participate in quarterly Strategy and Financial updates for the sales department
  • Perform frequent branch and customer visits to maintain relationships with customers & employees
  • Review, approve, and monitor department expenses while providing feedback and guidance to ensure expenses are warranted
  • Collaborate with supervisors & HR to identify employee development & training needs
  • Review Standard Sales & Rentals procedures, adjusting where necessary
  • Create and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Serve as RMS’ point person for all OE/vendor relationships; attend all vendor business reviews and industry events.
  • Ensure high quality, consistent use of CRMSeries
  • Supervise and manage special projects as needed

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree and or equivalent experience in a related field. MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus
  • At least 10-15 years of industry experience, with a proven track record in a leadership or executive role
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people at all levels within an organization
  • Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality when dealing with sensitive matters
  • Strong keyboard skills and proficient knowledge of Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities, while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Ability to take the initiative to accomplish work with little supervision
  • Regular travel is required
