Jakes Divinity School

Director of Technology Systems

The Director of Technology Systems leads a dynamic and expanding technology infrastructure that includes Salesforce (Marketing, CRM, and evolving SIS), Canvas, Shopify, WordPress, RingCentral, Microsoft 365, and other enterprise systems required to advance institutional goals. The role ensures these platforms operate cohesively, securely, and efficiently to enhance user experience, institutional intelligence, and operational scalability.

The DTS will oversee the seamless integration of technology into all facets of Jakes Divinity School operations, from marketing and recruitment to academic program development. The Director of Technology Systems reports to the President of Jakes Divinity School.

Key Responsibilities of the Director of Technology Systems:

1. Strategic Vision

a. Develop and execute a forward-looking vision for technology and education systems aligned with institutional growth and innovation.

b. Develop and maintain a comprehensive technology roadmap that supports enrollment growth, academic expansion, and operational excellence.

c. Evaluate emerging technologies and implement solutions that strengthen institutional competitiveness and sustainability.

2. Operational Oversight:

a. Lead all technology implementations across the institution, including Salesforce, Canvas, Shopify, WordPress, RingCentral, Microsoft 365, and additional enterprise applications.

b. Oversee the ongoing development and expansion of the Salesforce Student Information System.

c. Ensure seamless integration across systems to optimize data integrity, reporting, automation, and user experience.

d. Establish governance standards, workflows, and documentation to support scalability and sustainability.

3. Operational Management

a. Provide comprehensive oversight of technology operations, including systems administration, telecommunications, analytics, and data architecture.

b. Monitor system performance, security, and compliance standards.

c. Develop policies and procedures that ensure operational continuity and risk mitigation.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

a. Partner with Marketing, Admissions, Academic Affairs, and Operations to embed technology into strategic initiatives.

b. Support recruitment, enrollment management, program development, and digital course delivery through integrated systems solutions.

c. Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on institutional technology strategy and innovation.

5. Leadership & Capacity Building

a. Lead, manage, and supervise the Technology Systems Department.

b. Oversee recruitment, development, and performance of technical and professional staff.

c. Develop training resources and facilitate workshops to ensure effective system adoption by faculty, staff, and administrators.

d. Cultivate strong relationships with vendors and external technology partners.

6. Project Management & Innovation

a. Provide tactical leadership in system design, project management, and strategic planning initiatives.

b. Deploy technical solutions to resolve operational challenges and enhance institutional effectiveness.

c. Maintain architectural consistency and technology standards across all platforms.

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Information Systems, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

· Demonstrated hands-on experience implementing, managing, architecting, building, and maintaining enterprise technology systems in an academic or similarly complex environment.

· Experience supporting Learning Management Systems (preference for Canvas).

· Advanced working knowledge and experience with CRM systems (preference for Salesforce) and student information systems.

· Demonstrated ability to create workflows and automate business processes across platforms.

· Experience editing and maintaining websites (preference for WordPress), including forms, integrations, and user-facing functionality.

· Experience integrating LMS platforms (preference for Canvas) with CRM/SIS environments.

· Proven ability to create training materials, facilitate workshops, and support faculty, staff, and student users.

· Strong understanding of data architecture, systems integration, and process automation.

· Strong project management, analytical, and systems-thinking skills.

· Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.

· Ability and willingness to operate both strategically and tactically in a build-focused environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

· At least 2 years of professional experience supporting educational technologies within an academic institution.

· Experience building or expanding a Salesforce-based Student Information System.

· Experience integrating CRM, LMS, e-commerce, telecommunications, and productivity platforms.

· Experience working with Microsoft 365 enterprise environments.

· Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, vendors, and executive leadership.

· Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Java, and web technologies (WordPress).

· Experience with Shopify, RingCentral, and Microsoft 365 enterprise administration.

· Salesforce certifications (Administrator, Advanced Administrator, Platform App Builder, or similar).

· Experience in higher education or theological education environments.
