Cost Accounting Specialist

📍 Delta, BC | 🕒 Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role

Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, the Cost Accounting Specialist plays a key role in analyzing and maintaining costing data that drives pricing decisions and profitability analysis across machines, parts, and services.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to grow within a dynamic finance team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately post transactions including Purchase Orders, Transfer Orders, and Sales Orders
  • Ensure timely and accurate conversion of sales orders into invoices
  • Process vendor invoices, analyze cost variances, and escalate discrepancies
  • Match customs entries to vendor invoices and liaise with customs brokers as needed
  • Allocate and code freight, cartage, duty, and brokerage costs
  • Manage sales returns, purchase credits, and intercompany transactions
  • Track and report freight costs for consolidated shipments
  • Post journal entries and perform cost adjustments
  • Support month-end processes, reporting, and inventory reconciliation
  • Assist with switchboard coverage as required
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting (preferred)
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics / Navision) is an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Proactive, reliable, and solutions-oriented mindset
Working Environment
  • Standard business hours with occasional additional hours as needed
  • Fast-paced, collaborative office setting
  • Requires extended computer use and strong focus on accuracy
