About the RoleReporting to the Accounting Supervisor, the Cost Accounting Specialist plays a key role in analyzing and maintaining costing data that drives pricing decisions and profitability analysis across machines, parts, and services.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to grow within a dynamic finance team.
Key Responsibilities- Accurately post transactions including Purchase Orders, Transfer Orders, and Sales Orders
- Ensure timely and accurate conversion of sales orders into invoices
- Process vendor invoices, analyze cost variances, and escalate discrepancies
- Match customs entries to vendor invoices and liaise with customs brokers as needed
- Allocate and code freight, cartage, duty, and brokerage costs
- Manage sales returns, purchase credits, and intercompany transactions
- Track and report freight costs for consolidated shipments
- Post journal entries and perform cost adjustments
- Support month-end processes, reporting, and inventory reconciliation
- Assist with switchboard coverage as required
- Minimum 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
- Post-secondary education in Accounting (preferred)
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics / Navision) is an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Proactive, reliable, and solutions-oriented mindset
- Standard business hours with occasional additional hours as needed
