About This Position
Job Summary
The financial aid coordinator works under the direction of the Director of Financial Aid and provides financial aid services and public information regarding financial aid programs to student, parent and the general public. Coordinator provides loan advisement to students and has an understanding of state and accrediting body regulations as they apply to Title IV and other financial aid programs.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assists and advises students and parents with questions regarding the financial aid application process.
- Works with the Director of Financial Aid on processing files and requesting funds.
- Ensures that all students have completed MPN, entrance and exit counseling if needed.
- Monitors and evaluates Satisfactory Academic Progress of students.
- Maintains financial aid files.
- Assists students with withdrawals and leave of absence.
- Tracks student progress on financial aid packages.
- Creates payment plans for students with shortfalls and passes it along to the business office.
- Participates in annual training and professional organizations to keep abreast of new information and program changes to be implemented.
- Provides financial aid counseling to students and parents regarding all aspect of the financial aid or veteran’s process.
- Make necessary referrals to other student service officers.
- Conducts verification of student and parent application data in compliance with federal criteria.
- Work and collaborate with other departments as needed.
- Other Duties and Special Projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- A high School Diploma is required, and an associate degree in any field is preferred.
- Superior language and interpersonal communication skills.
- At least 2-3 years' experience in a related field.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment and relate well to others
- Ability to show initiative and commitment to the college’s goals
- Ability to readily adapt to changing requirements
- Strong commitment to performing and producing at the highest level of quality at all times
- Ability to manage individual workflow effectively and improve processes when necessary
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers both in written and verbal communications
- Positive attitude focused on student satisfaction
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows and related software (Work, Excel, and Outlook).
- Excellent analytical and management skills.
- Excellent organizational skills are essential
