About This Position
Job Summary
Functions as an educational expert providing guidance, coaching and evaluation of care team members in roles associated with for the Nurse Residency Program and Nurse Tech Program in a manner that ensures a successful transition to practice for new Registered Nurses to include meeting all the requirements of the ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP). Coordinates the roles of the hospital educators, academic faculty, and resident facilitators to achieve program outcomes. The role may include, but is not limited to, coordination with the HR department to recruit nurse residents, implementation of the nurse residency curriculum, oversight of nurse residents’ progression through the program, collaboration with the partnering academic nursing program(s) and engagement in ongoing program evaluation to foster program improvement and achievement of program outcomes. Other roles may include, but are not limited to, providing expertise to develop nurse resident’s clinical judgement and decision-making, reviewing clinical narratives to further develop the nurse resident’s nursing practice, and acting as a clinical resource.

6. Ability to access, plan, and develop complete curricula components and teach them to personnel who possesses varying levels of abilities.
7. Advanced skills in teaching methodologies, techniques, and aids.
8. Ability to develop and utilize evaluation tools.
9. Proficient in creative problem solving.
10. Possess good project management skills.
11. Proficient in the use of PC.
12. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
13. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
Work Experience
Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse is required. Experience as an educator is preferred.
Licensure/Certification
Current and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas is required.
Current BLS training is required.
Obtainment of the Nursing Professional Development certification is required within 3 years of being in the position.
Education and Training
Bachelor degree in Nursing is required.
