Position Overview
The HUMINT Technical Instructor is responsible for mentoring, advising, and training civilian and military personnel on specialized technical collection equipment, operational Techniques, Tactics, and Procedures (TTPs), and visualization tools in support of human intelligence (HUMINT) targeting programs for U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF), SOCOM, DoD, and Intelligence Community customers.
As a hands-on technical expert and instructor, this role delivers high-quality sustainment training, develops Programs of Instruction (POI), and supports the integration of emerging technologies into HUMINT operations. The position ensures that students and operational teams achieve proficiency in technical collection capabilities, including Tagging, Tracking, and Locating (TTL) devices, technical audio-visual surveillance, and tactical communications equipment, while operating in dynamic national security environments.
Primary Responsibilities
Instruction, Mentoring & Training DeliveryMentor, advise, and train civilian and military students and cadre on specialized technical collection equipment, operational TTPs, and visualization/analysis tools.Develop and deliver Programs of Instruction (POI), cheat-sheets, and customized training programs on equipment employment and supporting software applications.Provide sustainment training and performance feedback to ensure operational readiness and proficiency.CONOPs Development & Operational SupportAssist in the development and implementation of Concepts of Operations (CONOPs) for technical HUMINT collection missions.Coordinate with customers and stakeholders to align training and technical solutions with mission requirements.Support research, development, and testing of emerging technical collection technologies and capabilities.Technical Equipment & Tool ProficiencyServe as a subject matter expert on Tagging, Tracking, and Locating (TTL) devices, technical audio-visual surveillance equipment, tactical communications systems, and related geospatial/data visualization applications.Maintain current knowledge of Pathfinder web-based applications, Microsoft Office Suite, and other mission-relevant software tools.Troubleshoot technical issues during training and operational support activities.Program & Customer CoordinationCoordinate with potential and existing customers to identify specialized program support requirements.Participate in technical exchanges, demonstrations, and customer engagements to support capture and mission delivery objectives.Contribute to continuous improvement of training curricula and methodologies based on operational feedback and emerging threats.Travel & Field Operations SupportConduct domestic and international travel as required to deliver training and provide on-site advisory support.Operate independently for extended periods in field environments while maintaining high standards of performance and safety.Transport and employ technical equipment weighing up to 35 pounds across varied urban and rough terrain.Continuous Improvement & Knowledge SharingStay current on HUMINT technical collection advancements, DoD/Intelligence Community doctrine, and best practices in technical surveillance and targeting.Recommend enhancements to training programs, equipment integration, and operational TTPs to advance organizational capabilities in support of SOF missions.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Successful delivery of high-quality training programs with measurable improvements in student proficiency and operational readiness.Timely development and implementation of POIs, CONOPs, and training materials that meet customer and mission requirements.Effective coordination and support for customer engagements resulting in program growth or enhanced mission capabilities.High standards of safety, equipment accountability, and performance during travel and field operations.Contribution to the integration of emerging technologies into HUMINT operations with positive operational impact.Qualifications
5+ years of operational HUMINT experience within the last 3 to 5 years.Hands-on experience with technical information collection equipment, including Tagging, Tracking, and Locating (TTL) devices, technical audio-visual surveillance devices, and tactical communications equipment.Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training programs and technical instruction to military and civilian personnel.Active DoD Secret clearance required; TS/SCI strongly preferred.Ability to travel independently (domestic and international) and operate for extended periods without direct supervision.Valid U.S. passport and ability to travel abroad as mission requirements dictate.Physical ability to lift and carry a minimum of 35 pounds unassisted, walk long distances across varied terrain (urban and rough), and maintain fitness standards commensurate with operational demands.Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Intelligence, Military Science, or equivalent operational experience) preferred.Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.Leadership Competencies
