Gersh Autism is seeking an experienced HR Generalist (English/Spanish bilingual) to support our new school in the Bronx, NY. This role will partner closely with school leadership and the HR team to support day-to-day HR operations, employee relations, and recruiting efforts.

This position will play a key role in supporting staff and leadership while helping to build a positive, collaborative culture within our newest school community.

In this role, you’ll lead and support critical HR programs, drive process improvements, and help build scalable people strategies that align with Gersh Autism’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day HR support to employees and school leadership at the Bronx location.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations matters, including addressing workplace concerns, assisting with investigations, managing performance concerns, and supporting disciplinary processes.
  • Partner with leadership and HR team members to ensure consistent application of company policies and employment practices.
  • Support recruiting and talent acquisition efforts, including reviewing resumes, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and conducting interviews for open positions.
  • Assist with onboarding and new hire integration to ensure a positive employee experience.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and support HRIS updates, reporting, and documentation.
  • Provide guidance to managers on performance management, employee engagement, and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
  • Support HR initiatives including employee engagement programs, retention efforts, and staff development initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with other HR team members to maintain consistency and alignment across locations.
Required Skills and Competencies
  • Strong background in employee relations with experience addressing workplace concerns and supporting investigations.
  • Experience supporting recruiting and talent acquisition, including resume review and candidate interviews.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with employees and leaders.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with HRIS systems preferred.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
  • A collaborative, people-focused mindset with a service-oriented approach.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive HR experience, including experience in an HR Generalist or similar HR role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing employee relations matters and supporting HR operations.
  • Experience supporting recruiting and talent acquisition processes strongly preferred.
  • Experience in education, healthcare, or human services environments is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Full time, regular business hours Monday through Friday, primary location is Bronx, NY. May need to help at other locations if needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to sit for long periods

Ability to move freely throughout the building with no restrictions

The pay range for this role is:
90,000 - 120,000 USD per year(Bronx)
