Talent Acquisition Senior Coordinator

AthenaPsych is a New York State mental health-approved provider of community mental health services for children, adults, and families with behavioral and emotional challenges. We specialize in individual and group psychotherapy for clients with a focus on trauma-informed care. Athena is dedicated to improving the quality and accessibility of mental health care for all, especially individuals from underserved communities.

Under the supervision of the Talent & Retention Manager, the Talent Acquisition Sr. Coordinator plays a pivotal role in driving Athena's recruitment lifecycle and employee engagement initiatives. This position balances hands-on talent sourcing, full-cycle interview coordination, and employer branding with a strong focus on retention strategy. The Associate will actively track recruitment metrics, manage candidate pipelines, and coordinate culture-building events to foster a positive, supportive work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct initial screenings and interviews, including conducting phone screens and virtual/in-person interviews.
  • Proactively identify and source qualified talent for open positions using diverse channels, including LinkedIn, Facebook, specialized job boards, and professional databases.
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews between candidates and hiring teams, collect feedback, and collaborate with hiring managers to refine specific recruiting plans.
  • Maintain consistent communication with candidates (confirmation emails, follow-ups, and status updates) to ensure a high-quality candidate experience
  • Create branding materials, flyers, and digital content to market Athena positions across various social platforms.
  • Organize, coordinate, and attend job fairs and recruitment events; build and maintain ongoing relationships with school partners and professional networks.
  • Present job offers to qualified candidates, prepare offer letters and welcome materials, and assist with the new hire onboarding process.
  • Assist with pre-employment background checks, collect personnel files, and maintain accuracy within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Adhere strictly to all HR laws, rules, and regulations, including EEOC guidelines.
  • Assist in planning and executing Athena initiatives and staff events (both on-site and remote) to promote a positive workplace culture and boost employee job satisfaction and retention.
    Collaborate with leadership on specialized projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, or a closely related field.
  • 2-3 years of dedicated recruiting experience, demonstrating a solid understanding of modern talent acquisition practices, sourcing techniques, and candidate management. Preferably in-house experience.
  • Technical Skills: High proficiency in Google Suite, MS Office Suite, and hands-on experience utilizing an Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, accountable, trustworthy, and capable of handling confidential, sensitive data.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, adhere to tight deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Must be deeply passionate about working with underserved communities and fostering diverse, inclusive workplaces.

Working Conditions
This position will be located at the Manhattan office at 33 West 60th Street, New York, NY 10023 four times a week. This is a professional work environment where a computer, desk, chair, and office supplies will be provided onsite at each of our offices.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee in order to successfully perform the essential functions of the role above.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to hear and speak on the phone or computer throughout the day, stand and sit for an extended period of time and be able to write and answer emails in addition to carrying objects no greater than 25 pounds, when needed.
