Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints and schematics to determine work procedures.
- Dismantle machines using tools necessary.
- Update inventory count as items is used for tasks and repairs.
- Assist in machinery installation when needed.
- Adhere to assembly and installation instructions set forth in vendor manuals.
- Fabricate new machine parts if original parts are missing or damaged.
- Identify and correct problems found in machines, equipment, or processes to facilitate production.
- Repair machinery components as needed.
- Diagnostics and repairs on motors, pumps, valves, controls, PLC’s, and metal fabrication equipment.
- Work on a wide range of projects.
- Assist in training, directing, and supervision of junior employees and apprentices, inspecting and certifying their work.
- Perform all duties in accordance with Silent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.
- Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Licensed Journeyman Millwright.
- Experience in moving, assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of machinery and equipment, especially metal forming equipment.
- Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
- Able to fabricate new parts to replace defective parts during machine setup, maintenance, or overhaul.
- Thorough knowledge of load bearing capabilities of the equipment to be installed, assembled, or dismembered.
- Demonstrated aptitude in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with quality standards.
- Accurate and highly analytical.
- Electrical experience is an asset.
- Experience in supervising and mentoring apprentices.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
Working Conditions
- Travel required.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
- Commercial/Industrial environment.
- Manual dexterity required to use necessary tools.
- Exercise caution, as the environment presents many naturally occurring hazards.
- Always adhere to safety policies (wear protective equipment).
- Long periods of standing.
- Overtime may be required.
