OBJECTIVE:
General Laborer under the RPPM is to provide essential operational, maintenance, and
logistical support in the building to ensure safety, efficiency, and continuity of operations.
BACKGROUND:
The Real Property Planning and Management (RPPM) is responsible for the operations,
maintenance and stewardship of all NRC-owned and leased properties cross Canada.
RPPM ensures the buildings and facilities are safe, sustainable and aligns with both the
operational needs and Government of Canada policies.
Our core services are but not limited to:
• Maintenance and repair of electrical, mechanical, structural components (HVAC,
lighting, plumbing, etc.)
• Fire prevention and safety systems maintenance (extinguishers, sprinklers,
alarms)
• Management of space requirements and accommodation planning for offices and
laboratories
TASKS:
The candidate is expected to:
1. Take daily readings of all the equipment in the facilities
2. Assist the Site Operation Maintenance Manager (SOMM) in the maintenance of machine
equipment (HVAC, filter changes, vacuum pump, rotating pumps, centrifugal pump etc.)
and monthly safety shower checks
3. Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to building interiors and exteriors (e.g.,
wall painting, doors fixing, changing of locks, light bulbs, basic carpentry).
4. Support housekeeping and grounds maintenance activities, including snow clearing,
and general cleaning.
5. Participate in safety briefings, monthly technical sessions and required training
sessions.
DELIVERABLES:
1. Timely completion of assigned maintenance and logistics tasks
2. Accurate reporting of work performed, including documentation of maintenance
activities and incident reports.
3. Ensures a clean, safe, and functional work environment for NRC staff and
researchers.

BASIS OF PAYMENT: Payment is based on the number of hours worked.
TRAVEL: N/A
GOVERNMENT SUPPLIED MATERIAL (GSM): The NRC will provide tools to perform the tasks.
RESOURCE QUALIFICATIONS: High School Certificate
MINIMUM MANDATORY EXPERIENCE: At least 6 months of experience performing tasks
similar to the following four listed tasks:
1. Take daily readings of all the equipment in the facilities
