About This Position

Job Description The Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting and maintaining financial records. Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial data for the organization. This role supports the accounting department by performing general accounting functions, including accounts payable, vendor management, inventory reconciliation, general ledger reconciliation and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, and the ability to work under deadlines. Key Responsibilities • Assist in month and year end closing process for preparation of financial statements. • Prepare and process journal entries, including payroll, depreciation, lease, prepaid expense, accrued expense, etc. • Lead weekly and monthly inventory cycle counts throughout plant, inventory reconciliation • Review and analyze Purchase Order-A/P Invoice costs by project • Assist Controller with production cost accounting and system implementation as needed • Support continuous process improvements with the accounting department. • Assist the Controller with building and organizing internal P & L by business segment. • Ability to travel locally between manufacturing sites as needed to support the full accounting department. • Process and manage accounts payable (A/P) transactions with accuracy • Resolve A/P discrepancies with appropriate department internally • Prepare and process weekly check run along with wire and ACH payments • Maintain and update vendor files including contact information, payment terms, and tax documentation (W-9, tax-exemption forms, etc.) • Update and maintain fixed assets schedule and depreciation. • Prepare monthly sales and use tax filings. • Prepare month end and year end schedules. • Cross training as backup in other areas – accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations. • Willingness to engage with operations on the shop floor to completely understand all facets of the business. • Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience • Bachelor Of Science or Arts Degree in Accounting. • 3+ years of accounting experience. • Analytical with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Excel/Word. • Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy. • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks. • Excellent teamwork skills. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Supervisory Responsibility • This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, eight hours per day as agreed by the Manager.
