JOB TITLE: Technician, Facilities and Maintenance

DEPARTMENT: Facilities and Maintenance

REPORTS TO: Manager, Facilities and Maintenance

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Ensures that facilities, layout, and machinery used to produce new and existing materials and goods run to their maximum efficiency and output. This includes total preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns of mechanical, electrical, and robotic equipment (including software programming).

Install, maintain, improve, and repair equipment, plant, services and building installations to set levels effectively in compliance with best practices ensuring production efficiency can be met within a safe well-presented facility. Respond to technical issues affecting production and maintain electrical and mechanical services through Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

· Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.

· Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, hand, and power tools, examining form and texture of parts.

· Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

· Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, and straightedges.

· Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance schedule.

· Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.

· Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.

· Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

· Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.

· Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.

· Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

· Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

· Perform other job duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor/manager.

· Must be available for on call and be able to work flexible shifts.

· Fill in job tickets and log completion of work

· Familiar with hydraulics, pneumatics, programmable logic controllers, electrical circuits, electrical machinery, and human-machine interfaces.

· Proficient with various instruments and hand tools, such as electrical multimeters

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Physical activity includes walking, standing, bending, squatting, reaching above shoulders and lifting up to 40lbs. Must be able to drive an automobile for short distances.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Must be able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, lifting, bending, reaching, pulling, and grasping.

• Must be able to work under stress and in a fast-paced environment.
