About the Role:
The Launderer plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards within the accommodation and food services industry by ensuring all linens, uniforms, and related textiles are properly cleaned, dried, and prepared for use. This position is essential for supporting the overall guest experience by providing fresh and sanitized materials that meet health and safety regulations. The Launderer will operate industrial laundry equipment efficiently while adhering to established protocols to prevent damage to fabrics and ensure longevity. Attention to detail and time management are vital, as the role requires handling large volumes of laundry within tight schedules. Ultimately, the Launderer contributes to the smooth operation of the facility by maintaining a consistent supply of clean linens and uniforms, supporting both front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a laundry or similar environment preferred but not required.
- Ability to operate industrial laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy loads, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Basic understanding of cleaning agents and fabric care.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in the accommodation or food services industry.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to laundry operations.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and iron linens, uniforms, and other textiles according to fabric type and cleaning requirements.
- Operate and maintain industrial laundry machines, including washers, dryers, and pressing equipment, ensuring proper function and safety.
- Inspect laundered items for stains, damage, or wear and report any issues to management for replacement or repair.
- Manage laundry inventory by tracking incoming and outgoing items to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area, adhering to health and safety standards and company policies.
- Collaborate with housekeeping and kitchen staff to coordinate laundry needs and delivery schedules.
- Follow all safety protocols to handle chemicals and equipment responsibly, minimizing risk of accidents or contamination.
