ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Market President & Commercial Lender role at Magnolia State Bank is a full-time, on-site position based in Athens, GA. Responsibilities include managing and growing commercial lending portfolios, developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, identifying new business opportunities, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Daily responsibilities will also encompass providing financial and portfolio management solutions, leading sales initiatives, and contributing to the overall strategic goals of the bank while delivering high-quality service to clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Execute plans to manage business development productivity, improve portfolio quality, and meet financial targets.
• Establish and maintain marketing objectives of the area serviced.
• Provide financial advice and counsel on investments to potential and existing customers.
• Identify and pursue potential sources of business and strategies for retention.
• Call on customers to develop new business and cross-sell services.
• Engage in business development and community involvement activities to enhance public awareness of the bank and seek new business.
• Manage client relationships.
• Prepare loan documentation.
• Manage loan portfolio and ensure credit quality of the portfolio.
• Set pricing and terms for loan products sold.
• Evaluate loan requests and customer financial condition.
• Approve or decline credit requests within approved lending limits, submit requests to Loan Committee for approval.
• Assist in collections efforts as needed.
• Provide operational and managerial support to the lending team.
• Supervise employees, including through developing performance standards and objectives, measuring results, taking corrective action, and rewarding employees as is appropriate.
• Ensure regional branches are in compliance with established federal, state, and bank policies and procedures.
• Assure audit compliance and procedure quality control and initiate corrective actions for violation.
SECONDARY DUTIES
The position of Market President / Commercial Lender performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES
The position of Market President is responsible for the supervision of up to 10 employees.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Advanced experience, knowledge, and/or training in branch management, lending, loan processing, banking, accounting, financial analysis, credit analysis, and related areas.
• Advanced knowledge of related state and federal lending and compliance regulations, and other bank lending policies and financial laws and regulations.
• Proven ability to develop marketing and business development skills with customers.
• Intermediate knowledge of branch operation procedures, bank products, and services.
• Advanced knowledge of human resources and labor laws and policies.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills; demonstrated ability in organization and delegation skills.
• Intermediate computer skills, including familiarity with computer operation, typing, word processors, spreadsheet programs, and specialty software programs.
• Advanced math skills, including ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio, and percent; drafting and interpretation of bar graphs; and other non-listed basic mathematical skills.
• Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedures and speak clearly to customers and employees.
• Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
• Ability to travel, if necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Expertise in Finance and Budgeting, ensuring effective financial analysis and decision making.
• Proven skills in Commercial Lending, with the ability to structure and manage loans.
• Experience in Portfolio Management, including oversight and optimization of diverse client portfolios.
• Sales proficiency, including developing and maintaining strong client relationships and identifying business growth opportunities.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of banking regulations and industry compliance standards
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
• Prior experience in a leadership role within a financial institution is highly desirable.
