About the Role
The Production Manager is a high-impact role responsible for transforming fabrication operations into a scalable, high-performing system. By blending leadership, industrial engineering principles, and continuous improvement, this position drives efficiency, consistency, and operational excellence across multiple product lines.
This role owns both daily production execution and long-term process improvement, ensuring the operation can grow without sacrificing quality, safety, or delivery performance.
Key Responsibilities
Production Leadership
- Lead daily fabrication operations for sheet metal ductwork and related components
- Develop and manage production schedules aligned with field demand
- Ensure consistent performance in safety, quality, and on-time delivery
- Coach and develop frontline supervisors and team leaders
- Drive accountability and performance across production teams
Process Improvement & Engineering
- Analyze productivity, throughput, WIP, and operational constraints
- Improve workflows, layouts, and material flow to increase efficiency
- Implement standard work, capacity planning, and production balancing
- Reduce overtime, rework, and scrap through structured problem-solving
- Lead continuous improvement efforts using Lean principles (5S, visual management, KPI tracking)
Planning & Operational Scaling
- Translate demand forecasts into executable production plans
- Develop staffing approaches aligned with production volume and capacity
- Partner with leadership on equipment, tooling, and operational needs
- Support process changes and new product introductions with minimal disruption
Performance & Metrics
- Own and manage key performance indicators:
- Units per labor hour
- On-time completion
- Scrap and rework rates
- Overtime utilization
- Use data to drive decisions, identify issues, and communicate performance clearly

- You are comfortable challenging the status quo while respecting the realities of the shop floor
- You bring experience in manufacturing or fabrication environments, ideally with sheet metal, ductwork, or similar operations
- You are motivated by building scalable systems that support growth, not just hitting short-term numbers
- Naturally outgoing and friendly attitude with personal commitment and passion for service excellence in order to consistently deliver and demonstrate GSM service standards to our internal customers.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 5+ years in manufacturing or fabrication with direct production leadership
- Experience leading supervisors and hourly production teams
- Strong working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, ductwork, or similar environments
Industrial Engineering Background (One of the Following)
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
OR - Equivalent hands-on experience in:
- Lean manufacturing implementation
- Line balancing and labor modeling
- Capacity planning and workflow design
- Data-driven production optimization
