Position Description
In this role, you will serve on the Joint Staff Support Center (JSSC) Information Technology Support Services (JSSC-ITSS) contract as a Nuclear Planning and Execution System (NPES) Systems Administrator at the Raven Rock Mountain Complex (RRMC), Blue Ridge Summit, PA. The NPES Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining the hardware and software supporting the Site-R NPES server/client baseline and providing Tier I/II/III IT operations support. The position performs systems operations, administration, and maintenance; client and server operations; backup and recovery; storage administration; system patching; troubleshooting; technical documentation; configuration management; and cybersecurity compliance activities necessary to maintain the availability and operational readiness of the NPES environment. The position requires the ability to work with minimal direction, apply extensive technical expertise, independently resolve complex technical problems, and provide subject matter expertise in support of mission-critical information systems.
Requirements:- Provide comprehensive systems administration and operational support for the Site-R NPES server/client environment, including production, test, and development systems. Perform installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, account management, performance tuning, resource monitoring, hardware/software support, and system sustainment.
- Provide Tier I/II/III technical support and troubleshooting for NPES systems and services, including incident and problem management, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, escalation, ticket documentation, and coordination with technical teams to restore and maintain normal service operations.
- Administer and maintain Windows-based servers and classified client systems, including operating systems, applications, system services, peripherals, software upgrades, and Government-approved configurations. Apply working knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments when required for system dependencies, integration, or troubleshooting.
- Perform system maintenance, patching, and cybersecurity activities, including testing and implementing operating system updates, COTS/GOTS releases, firmware updates, security patches, vulnerability remediation, system hardening, log review, and other actions necessary to maintain compliance with applicable DoD, DISA, and JSSC requirements.
- Manage backup, recovery, storage, and continuity operations to protect NPES systems, applications, and data. Support backup configuration and testing, restoration, storage capacity and performance, recovery planning, emergency shutdown/startup, and continuity of operations requirements.
- Support virtualization and enterprise systems management technologies, including virtual machines, virtualization infrastructure, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), DNS, Windows Server administration tools, and other Government-approved tools used to manage, monitor, patch, and troubleshoot NPES assets.
- Support configuration, change, release, and testing activities by evaluating proposed system modifications, obtaining required approvals, testing hardware/software changes, implementing authorized changes, validating results, and maintaining accurate system configuration information.
- Develop and maintain technical and operational documentation covering system installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, backup/recovery, system changes, incidents, and sustainment activities in accordance with approved JSSC standards and procedures.
- Coordinate with Government and technical stakeholders, including system owners, cybersecurity personnel, application, network and database administrators, vendors, and contractor teams to resolve complex technical issues, support system integration, and maintain NPES operational readiness.
- Maintain system and mission readiness by exercising independent technical judgment, recommending improvements to system performance, reliability, availability, and maintainability, and complying with applicable safety, security, access, training, certification, cybersecurity, configuration-management, and JSSC operational requirements. Duties may evolve within the authorized contract scope to meet customer and mission requirements.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Minimum active Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) access
Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent. (Organizational / Operational Requirement)
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant information technology experience
- Demonstrated experience providing advanced technical support, analysis, troubleshooting, and solutions for complex information technology systems. (ENCORE III Requirement)
- Current DoD IAT Level II certification or current DoD 8140 equivalent applicable to the assigned work role, as required for personnel performing Tier II/III system administration and privileged-access duties. (PWS Requirement)
- Minimum active Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) access, as required for the supported JSSC Site-R environment. (PWS Requirement / Operational Security Requirement)
- Demonstrated experience administering enterprise Windows-based server and client environments, including installation, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, patching, troubleshooting, and sustainment.
- Experience troubleshooting complex system issues involving operating systems, applications, virtualization, system performance, storage, backup and recovery, patching, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and document technical findings and resolutions.
- Experience performing system testing, software updates, preventive maintenance, and developing and maintaining technical documentation.
- Ability to independently manage multiple technical priorities and perform assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional environments involving Government and contractor personnel, system and network administrators, cybersecurity professionals, database administrators, and other technical teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical information to customers, technical teams, leadership, and Government representatives.
- Experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments and VMware virtualization technologies.
- Experience with enterprise operating system and software patching using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) or similar configuration and patch-management tools.
- Working knowledge of DNS administration and troubleshooting and UNIX/Linux system administration.
- Experience supporting classified, mission-critical, or DoD information systems.
- Familiarity with DISA STIGs, vulnerability remediation, system hardening, and DoD cybersecurity practices.
- ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent experience working within ITIL/ITSM processes.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities
Work Environment
This position operates in a highly secure professional work environment with strict physical and information-system access controls. Work is performed primarily at the Raven Rock Mountain Complex in support of classified JSSC systems and mission requirements. The position routinely uses computers, multiple displays, telephones, technical documentation, system administration tools, and other standard office and information technology equipment. Work must be performed in accordance with all facility, security, system access, and work-center procedures. Government- or contractor-owned equipment and materials must be maintained and protected in accordance with applicable security, accountability, and handling requirements.
Physical / Mental Demands
This is primarily a sedentary technical position; however, some mobility may be required to access system equipment, work areas, server infrastructure, storage systems, or secured locations. The position may require prolonged use of computer systems and monitors, keyboard and mouse use, reviewing technical data, troubleshooting complex systems, and analyzing system performance for extended periods. The employee must be able to analyze and interpret complex technical information, maintain attention to detail, retain information necessary for access to secure areas, manage multiple technical priorities, work under time constraints, and make appropriate technical decisions in a mission-focused environment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position working at least 40 hours per week in support of contract requirements. The normal assignment is dayshift. The employee is expected to work during established JSSC/DISA business hours and in accordance with the work-center schedule. Mission requirements, system maintenance, outages, contingency operations, emergency support, or continuity-of-operations activities may require work outside normal duty hours or in excess of the standard workweek.

Limited travel may be required in support of contract and mission requirements.
