Production Support Technician/Knife Sharpener in Simpsonville, South Carolina at Fitesa Simpsonville Inc

The Production Services Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining knives, dies, and cassettes to support Slitter machines and other production equipment.

Pay: $21-$22/hr

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7 am - 4 pm

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
• At least 1 year of machine operator, maintenance, or tooling experience in a manufacturing environment
• High level of mechanical aptitude and experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment
• High attention to detail

What You Will Do:

• Follow safe operation of hoists and attachments on all lines.
• Responsible for repairs, tracking, and maintenance of Slitter Knives and Counter Knives.
• Maintain Knife related records: knife tracking/inspection, parts used/replaced, etc.
• Disassemble, clean, and rebuild Knives and Counter Knives.
• Responsible for repairs, tracking and maintenance of Slitter Rewind Shafts.
• Repair and maintain Slitter Rewind Shaft (mandrels) related records: air shaft tracking, parts used/replaced, etc.
• Remove and install dies and cassettes on production lines.
• Maintain Pack/Knife Room equipment in good working condition according to manufacturer’s specifications including burnout oven, ultrasonic bath, pressure washer, SpinTrak inspection system, work benches, etc. and report deficiencies.
• Maintain the Pack/Knife Room and equipment according to 5S standards.
• Clean knives.
• Maintaining adequate stock levels of knife and air shaft repair parts.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly lift up to 25 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs
• Stand and walk for extended periods
• Work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment
• Work around varying temperatures
• Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception and ability to adjust focus
