Description:

SUMMARY: The Internal Medicine Nurse works collaboratively with providers and support staff to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Internal Medicine Department.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties are subject to accommodation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

  • Processes all patients according to the policies and guidelines established for Internal Medicine.
  • Ensures continuity of care is maintained in all aspects of patient care.
  • Responsible for data collection systems and to report statistical data necessary for grant purposes as needed.
  • Supports all quality assurance activities and infection control procedures according to established policies.
  • Assists in maintaining stock inventory and ordering supplies, as necessary.
  • Attends department, case management and other meetings as assigned.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Experienced and able to function effectively and professionally within an outpatient setting providing community-based care.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • CT Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required or Registered Nurse (RN) license required

This position requires the manual dexterity sufficient to operate phones, computers and other office equipment. The position requires the physical ability to kneel, bend and perform light lifting. This person must have the ability to write and speak clearly using the English language to convey information and be able to hear at normal speaking levels both in person and over the telephone. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Generally, the working conditions are good with little or no exposure to extremes in health, safety hazards and/or hazardous materials. This person must have the ability to travel as required to work with staff.
