Overview

The mission of Princeton University Department of Athletics is to strive for excellence in academics and athletics, while embracing equity in opportunity, good sportsmanship, and ethical conduct.

In partnership with the Center for Career Development, the Associate Director will be responsible for the coordination of initiatives of prospective employers to connect with Princeton student-athletes; assist with professional development and resume building; liaise with campus partners, colleagues, students & alumni; and organize and implement summer internship programs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate recruitment and visibility initiatives for prospective employers to connect with Princeton student-athletes, in partnership with the Center for Career Development.
  • Organize and Implement annual career and professional development events.
  • Network effectively with alumni and employers to explore career options.
  • Identify various career paths that match student-athlete interests, skills, and values, and assist in educating student-athletes on any prerequisites for certain career paths.
  • Organize annual events with relevant subject area review (including NIL).
  • Leverage/promote existing University Career Development Events and create Athletics events where applicable.
  • Develop weekly templated emails featuring job opportunities.
  • Help student-athletes connect their athletic experience and skills to skills and traits employers are seeking.
  • Develop and implement programming for student-athletes with a particular emphasis on leadership development, professional development, personal enhancement, and community engagement.
  • Provide guidance to student-athletes in group and one-on-one settings as it pertains to their professional development and career interests.
  • Collaborate with campus departments and local employers to identify and implement career programming and leadership opportunities for student-athletes.
  • Prepare for upcoming internship or job interviews and successfully negotiate job offers.
  • Assist with the development of application materials (e.g., resumes, cover letters) that highlight relevant skills and experience to target internship/job postings and maximize opportunities.
  • Organize and implement summer internship programs.
  • Proactively connect and engage with campus departments, organizations, faculty, and staff to facilitate a positive working relationship.
  • Liaise with campus partners, Athletic Department colleagues, students and alumni.
  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
    • Five years of experience in collegiate athletics.
    • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities.
    • Proficiency with MS office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Proven ability to develop and foster relationships with people at all levels of an organization, and to collaborate and influence at a high level.
    • Ability to work with a high degree of flexibility in a highly-collaborative, fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.
    • Exercising discretion at all times and able to keep confidential all data related to Princeton and its alumni.
    • Commitment to Department of Athletics mission and values of Education Through Athletics.
    • Understanding of, and compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the Ivy League and the NCAA.
    • Occasional travel is required; must have the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
    • Event planning background and experience with smaller and larger scale event management preferred.
    • Familiarity with athletics administration, alumni relations and/or volunteer management is a plus.
