About the role

1. As a Program Leader with Camp Fire Long Beach, you'll help create a safe, engaging, and welcoming after-school experience for young people at one of our school-based program sites.
2. Program Leaders work directly with students each day, leading activities, supporting homework and enrichment, building positive relationships, and helping young people feel connected to their program community.
3. This is a part-time, in-person position serving school sites throughout the Long Beach area. Site placement and schedules are based on program needs and employee availability.

What you'll do

1. Lead and actively participate in engaging, age-appropriate activities with students.
2. Build positive and supportive relationships with young people.
3. Support enrichment, recreation, homework/academic time, and daily program activities.
4. Maintain active supervision and prioritize youth safety throughout the program day.
5. Support positive behavior using proactive, respectful, and youth-centered approaches.
6. Assist with student transitions, attendance, sign-in/sign-out, meals, and other daily program routines.
7. Communicate professionally and respectfully with students, families, school partners, and Camp Fire team members.
8. Collaborate with your Site Coordinator and fellow Program Leaders to create a strong program environment.
9. Participate in required meetings, trainings, and professional development.
10. Follow Camp Fire Long Beach and school-site policies, procedures, and safety expectations.

1. Enjoys working directly with children and young people.
2. Is dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a consistent work schedule.
3. Communicates clearly and works well as part of a team.
4. Is comfortable leading activities and actively engaging with groups of students.
5. Can remain calm, professional, and solution-focused when challenges arise.
6. Is open to feedback, coaching, and continued learning.
7. Can reliably report to their assigned school-site location.
8. Meets all employment, background clearance, and position requirements established by Camp Fire Long Beach and applicable program partners.
