Job Description:

The Community Impact Manager is a member of the Fund Development team and serves as a key liaison for volunteer and community engagement efforts, working cross-departmentally and agency-wide to advance the organization’s mission. This role collaborates closely with internal departments to develop and implement cohesive, agency-wide strategies that support volunteer programs and comprehensive community engagement initiatives aligned with programmatic and fundraising goals.

The Manager is responsible for expanding opportunities for impact for donors, volunteers, corporate partners, small businesses, and community organizations, ensuring partnerships are strategically aligned with internal priorities. In collaboration with staff across departments, the Manager coordinates and represents the organization at events, provides resources and information as needed, and leads outreach initiatives that promote programs and fundraising efforts.

Through strategic engagement, internal collaboration, and relationship-building, this position strengthens community trust, enhances organizational visibility, and increases overall organizational capacity by aligning external partnerships with internal program goals.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with volunteers and community organizations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance corporate and community engagement.
  • Manage the volunteer database CRM used for tracking volunteers, services hours and reporting
  • Manage holiday giving program “Project Giving Tree,” including gathering of wish lists, partnering of families, gathering of donations, supporting department parties, and distribution of gifts
  • Track and report engagement metrics to demonstrate impact and inform future strategies
  • Serve as the primary liaison for community partnerships and volunteer initiatives
  • Oversee and manage internship program
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align engagement efforts with program objectives and operational priorities.
  • Organize and represent the organization at events, meetings, and networking opportunities.
  • Work closely with the marketing & communications teams to create marketing and promotional materials to support engagement activities.
  • Attend community meetings and record details of your interactions with community members.
  • Plan, advertise, and host virtual and in-person events for volunteers and community organizations, fostering relationships to help encourage positive outcomes.
  • Develop and facilitate training for AFG volunteer groups, working closely with program teams as needed.
  • Reach out to members in the community to check in with them and encourage participation in community events and other small and large group activities, ensuring members engage with AFG monthly.
  • May require a flexible schedule with occasional evening or weekend events as needed.

  • Solid organizational and program management skills

  • Excellent communication skills, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Effective decision-making, conflict resolution, and listening skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.

  • Familiarity with Volunteer/Donor CRM platforms

Acquired Knowledge:

  • 3–5 years of experience in community engagement, corporate relations, or nonprofit sector
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community engagement best practices and corporate partnership strategies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to set priorities, take initiative, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or related field
  • Must possess a current driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable transportation
