Grants Manager

Development

Job Summary

The Grants Manager will work with the Chief Philanthropy Officer & Chief Program Officers on enhancing funding models, identifying new sources of funding, and developing effective grant processes.

The Grants Manager will optimize the grant administration process, manage development, review grant proposals, oversee the preparation of progress reports, and ensure compliance with grant requirements.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Grant Writing – Identifies potential funding sources and develops grant proposals in partnership with program directors;
  • Management- Ensures that the grant proposals and reports are developed and submitted timely, optimizing the grant administration process; oversees the preparation of grant applications and progress reports; ensures compliance with grant requirements/regulations, and works with other JFS staff on preparing reports.
  • Program Support- Works with Chief Philanthropy Officer and Chief Program Officers to identify community needs, develop a funding plan for the year, and identify appropriate grant resources to support community needs. Works with Program Directors, partner agencies, and other relevant staff to monitor grant progress.
  • Finance Support – Collaborates with Finance department to coordinate timely submission of grant invoices and budgets. Supports budget compliance, provides support and reviews spending for certain expenditures such as grant-funded staff salaries and benefits, and submits expenditure reports to funders.
  • Compliance & Data – Works with QI, IT, Marketing, and program staff to ensure appropriate funder recognition data collection for grant reporting.
  • Security and Privacy –Adheres to agency and client protection policies by regularly acclimating with the JFS privacy, safety and security policies made available within the employee handbook.
  • Employee Philanthropy –Participates annually in agency and partner-related philanthropic activities and campaigns.
  • Mission Dedication –Embodies the mission and values of JFS in all work done on behalf of the agency. Utilization of the JFS key strategies will ensure success in this accountability.
  • Misc. – Other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: Previous experience in non-profit grant management is required.

Education: A bachelor's degree in business management, communication, creative writing, or a related field

Certifications or Licenses Required: none

Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge, Behaviors)

Skills

  • Technology – Must be comfortable working within various online systems and JFS electronic health record and have a high level of skill with formatting documents.
  • Communication – Excellent oral and writing communication skills are a basic job requirement for this position.
  • Logic – Demonstrates effective judgment by making appropriate decisions, as well as conducting and maintaining a professional manner and appearance at all times.
  • Time Management - Uses time effectively by appropriately planning, organizing and scheduling work to meet agency deadlines.
  • Research - Explore applicable grant opportunities that address a variety of communal priorities.

  • Microsoft Office skills are required (Excel, Word, Power Point)
