Why Join Oilgear

At Oilgear, we design and manufacture high-performance hydraulic systems that power some of the world’s most demanding industrial applications. Our employees play a critical role in our success, and we are committed to providing a safe, collaborative, and growth-oriented environment. At Oilgear, you’ll work with advanced technology, contribute to meaningful products, and be part of a team that values quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Position Overview

The Project Manager – Industrial Systems is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of customer projects from quotation through delivery and post-delivery support. This position bridges the gap between customer requirements and internal execution, translating commercial opportunities into executable work scopes and driving cross-functional alignment to meet project goals. The role demands strong technical acumen, financial and commercial understanding, organizational discipline, and excellent communication skills to achieve customer satisfaction, profitability, and predictable project performance across Oilgear’s engineered systems portfolio.

This role serves as the go-to internal partner for the external sales team, providing rapid and accurate pre-sales support and leading post-order execution of hydraulic and control system projects. This role is both commercial and operational, ensuring that what is promised to the customer is priced correctly, scoped clearly, and delivered predictably. The Project Manager – Industrial Systems orchestrates collaboration between Sales, Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, and Field Service to ensure projects are delivered on time, on cost, and to specification, while protecting both the customer experience and the company’s financial performance.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop, issue, and manage quotations, proposals, and project documentation for hydraulic and control system projects.
  • Coordinate material procurement, engineering, production schedules, and shipment planning.
  • Track and report performance metrics including schedule adherence, cost variance, and margin retention.
  • Lead project status and review meetings internally and with customers.
  • Support and train sales team members on quoting tools, pricing standards, and project tracking systems.
  • Maintain accurate and complete project documentation in compliance with Oilgear’s QMS, ISO 9001, and safety standards.
  • Ensure timely communication between Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Field Service for all active orders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in quotation accuracy, project predictability, and customer experience.
  • Customer ownership and communication throughout the project lifecycle
  • Project financial management, cost tracking, and margin accountability
  • Scope management and change order administration
  • Risk identification and mitigation planning
  • Project scheduling, forecasting, and milestone management
  • Contract and specification review
  • Cross-functional leadership across Sales, Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, and Field Service
  • Project closeout, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 7 plus years of experience in project management or commercial operations within an engineered-to-order or capital-equipment environment.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple concurrent projects through completion.
  • Deep project management expertise with demonstrated cross-functional leadership.
  • Proficiency with ERP, quoting/configuration, and project tracking systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, BOMs, and customer specifications.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen including cost tracking and margin analysis.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Solution-oriented, accountable, and structured mindset with strong ownership of outcomes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines.

Preferred

  • Experience with hydraulic systems and PLC control systems strongly desired.
  • PMP certification or formal project-management training a plus.
