The Mission:
We aren't looking for someone to just check the log or place orders. You will be the category manager of all hard and soft surface lines (LVP, tile, carpet, and pad) in our ERP. You sit at the high-stakes intersection of vendor negotiation, data integrity, and operational grit.
About the Flooring Category Manager Role:
- Category Stewardship: A mindset of ownership over the flooring category's financial performance. You treat every dollar of inventory spent on stock and special orders as if it were your own investment.
- Technical Subject Matter Expertise: Deep, specialized knowledge of flooring materials, unit-of-measure conversions (cartons, square footage, square yards), subfloor requirements, and installation nuances. You are the final authority on product specs and vendor capabilities.
- Operational Grit: The tenacity to hold manufacturers accountable and negotiate aggressively. You don't settle for "standard" freight and material terms; you push for the best possible position for Drexel.
- Vigilant Inventory Management: An obsessive focus on the "Aging Clock." You have zero tolerance for abandoned special orders, mismatched dye lots, or broken cartons clogging the system.
The Role in a Nutshell:
You own the Flooring Category from birth to end in our ERP. You are the "Strategic Stakeholder" who ensures the team has the right product roadmap to ensure what we promise the builder is exactly what we buy, deliver, and install.
