This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Associate/Consultant Engineer based in the United States.
This is an opportunity to contribute to data- and technology-driven projects supporting organizations across life sciences, healthcare, research, and biotechnology.
You will design and deliver scalable technical solutions while translating complex business requirements into practical engineering outcomes.
The role combines hands-on engineering with client engagement, giving you ownership of meaningful technical workstreams.
You will collaborate with architects, project managers, engineers, and clients in an agile, consulting-oriented environment.
Your work may span software, data, cloud, APIs, and modern engineering platforms depending on project needs.
The position also offers exposure to emerging technologies shaping drug discovery, biomedical research, and precision medicine.

- Design and implement scalable, maintainable technical solutions for client and internal projects, applying sound engineering principles and industry best practices.
- Translate business and functional requirements into technical designs, specifications, architecture diagrams, and actionable engineering plans.
- Own defined technical components or project workstreams, delivering high-quality outcomes with limited supervision and maintaining accountability for deadlines and deliverables.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across systems and environments, evaluating alternatives and recommending solutions that balance performance, cost, scalability, and maintainability.
- Work directly with clients to clarify requirements, validate assumptions, communicate progress, and ensure technical solutions address business needs.
- Develop client-facing deliverables, including design documentation, demonstrations, presentations, and other technical materials.
- Collaborate with architects, project managers, engineers, and consulting teams to deliver integrated solutions across multidisciplinary projects.
- Support engineering quality by following coding, testing, version control, documentation, security, and other technical standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement through code and design reviews, reusable accelerators, automation, and evolving engineering practices.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and identify opportunities to apply modern approaches to data, software, cloud, analytics, and life-sciences technology projects.
- 2+ years of professional engineering experience, preferably within consulting, data, software delivery, or another technology-focused environment.
- 2+ years of experience designing and implementing production-grade solutions using modern technologies such as Python, SQL, dbt, React, Vue, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong expertise in at least one core engineering area, such as software/application engineering, data engineering, or cloud engineering.
- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including version control, testing, CI/CD, documentation, and maintainable development practices.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business or functional requirements into clear technical specifications and architecture designs.
- Hands-on experience with system integrations, APIs, data pipelines, or related technical infrastructure.
- Proven ability to independently manage and deliver technical workstreams while maintaining high standards for quality and scalability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong collaboration skills and comfort working with cross-functional teams and directly with clients.
- Experience working in agile, iterative, or project-based delivery environments.
- An advanced degree such as an MS, MBA, or PhD in a life-sciences-related discipline is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI/ML applications in drug discovery, real-world evidence, digital clinical trials, or other emerging R&D technologies is advantageous.
- Experience with data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift/Athena, or BigQuery is preferred.
- Knowledge of cloud architecture, infrastructure-as-code, DevOps, containerization, automation, data modeling, ETL/ELT, or analytics engineering is beneficial.
- Experience with code/design reviews, mentoring junior engineers, developing internal best practices, or building technical accelerators is a plus.
- Associate-level salary: $69,416.67–$85,750 per year.
- Consultant-level salary: $82,025–$101,325 per year.
