Agri-Cycle is New England's largest and fastest growing food waste collection company; we are experiencing exponential growth year-after-year and provide an essential service for the entire Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Our process utilizes organic waste to create renewable energy through local anaerobic digestors.

At this time, we are looking to fill a full-time Staff Accountant position in our South Portland home office. This position is responsible for various day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping responsibilities.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Enter and monitor all company invoices using Quickbooks.
  • Reconcile company PO log and accurately coding credit card transactions.
  • Answer all Accounts Payable inquiries.
  • Analyze and audit subcontractor invoices.
  • Reconcile vendor statements.
  • Daily application of customer payments.
  • Maintain accuracy of general ledger accounts.
  • Follow up with Terminal Managers on incomplete information.
  • Accurately assess and pay state sales tax as needed.
  • File annual reports in applicable states.
  • Special projects as assigned by management.

Billing & Payroll

  • Handle all billing aspects for a small division of the company in Massachusetts.
  • Upload invoices into customer specific portals as needed.
  • Follow up on past-due Accounts Receivable balances.
  • Maintain accuracy of customer Accounts Receivable balances.
  • Issue Finance and Fuel surcharges as needed.
  • Monitor and follow up on missing employee times.
  • Follow up with Terminal Managers as needed.
  • Collect and audit all company reimbursements.
Requirements:

Requirements: Education

  • Associates Degree in Accounting or related field

Experience:

  • Accounting: 2+ years of hands on accounting experience in a professional environment (Required)

Knowledge/Skills

  • QuickBooks
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft 365-Teams
  • Statement reconciliations
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and problem solve
  • Ability to recognize trends
