Director, Information Systems

This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape and execute enterprise infrastructure strategy while driving large-scale technology transformation initiatives.
You will lead teams responsible for cloud engineering, networking, operating systems, and infrastructure operations across complex environments.
The position focuses on modernizing technology platforms, accelerating cloud adoption, and ensuring resilient, secure, and scalable systems.
Working closely with executive leaders, vendors, and cross-functional teams, you will guide multi-year infrastructure programs and operational improvements.
You will combine deep technical expertise with strategic leadership to optimize infrastructure performance and enable business growth.

Accountabilities:

The Director, Information Systems will lead enterprise infrastructure engineering initiatives, overseeing cloud transformation, network strategy, operational resilience, and technology modernization efforts. This role requires strong leadership capabilities, strategic planning expertise, and the ability to manage complex programs across multiple teams and stakeholders.

  • Lead the infrastructure engineering organization, including cloud engineering, compute/server operations, networking, operating systems, and firewall management.
  • Define and execute enterprise data center exit strategies, including migration plans, timelines, risk assessments, cost models, and governance processes.
  • Drive multi-cloud architecture strategies across AWS and Azure environments, including hybrid connectivity, cloud networking, SD-WAN, VPN, load balancing, and security capabilities.
  • Oversee enterprise firewall platforms, including lifecycle management, capacity planning, patching strategies, and vendor coordination.
  • Direct Windows and Linux operating system engineering operations, including patching strategies and server lifecycle management.
  • Manage strategic vendor relationships, including contract negotiations, service-level agreements, renewals, and procurement processes.
  • Support cloud migration programs by ensuring infrastructure readiness, production transition planning, testing, and operational stability.
  • Lead infrastructure incident response processes, including post-incident reviews and continuous improvements to system availability.
  • Build and develop a high-performing engineering organization through talent development, performance management, and team growth initiatives.
  • Establish infrastructure architecture standards that improve efficiency, scalability, security, and platform compatibility.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on infrastructure programs, cloud spending, vendor performance, operational risks, and transformation progress.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience leading enterprise infrastructure organizations, managing large-scale technology transformations, and delivering secure, reliable IT environments. Success in this role requires a balance of technical depth, strategic vision, business understanding, and strong stakeholder leadership.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud engineering, IT operations, or related technology domains with increasing leadership responsibility.
  • Proven experience leading data center migrations, cloud transformation initiatives, or infrastructure modernization programs.
  • Strong expertise in cloud architecture across AWS and Azure, including infrastructure-as-code, landing zones, networking, and cost optimization.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise networking concepts, including SD-WAN, MPLS, VPN, cloud networking, and load balancing.
  • Experience managing firewall platforms, including next-generation firewalls and cloud-native security solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional programs involving multiple teams and business stakeholders.
  • Experience building and managing technology teams of 10+ employees, including talent development and performance management.
  • Strong communication, executive presence, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to make strategic decisions in ambiguous environments while balancing business priorities and technical considerations.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Industry certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional, CCNP, CCIE, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent.
  • Experience within insurance, claims, financial services, or similarly regulated technology environments.
  • Experience managing managed service providers, outsourced infrastructure operations, or NOC environments.
  • Experience transitioning organizations from project-based delivery models to product or service-oriented models.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure divestiture planning, hardware lifecycle management, and contract transition activities.
  • Experience with cloud cost management and FinOps practices.
  • Familiarity with Linux/UNIX administration, middleware platforms, and enterprise server lifecycle management.
