Job Description
BASIC PURPOSE: Under the supervision of the Blast Department Supervisor, performs the operation of powered shot blast equipment for the cleaning and preparation of castings for further cleaning or shipment per written process directions, in a safe, efficient, and quality manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. The Blast Cleaning operator acquires the specific process card for the job being performed.
2. During work shift, performs duties, such as removing excess sand, risers, gating, etc., using mechanical machinery provided and
various tools.
3. All blast numbers and part information is recorded by the blast operator on a daily timesheet received from the supervisor.
4. Transports all castings to and from machine using overhead cranes and slings systems.
5. Work area must be kept clear of hazards and cleaned and prepared for the next shift daily.
6. Additional duties as may be required.
Requirements:EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Minimum of completion of the tenth (10) grade, high school. Must possess the ability to follow written and verbal directions. Must have ability to move freely throughout the work area, lift fifty pounds on a regular basis, stand, walk, bend, and work in fast paced environment. Must be trained to operate powered blast cleaning machinery, powered overhead crane, and any other tools used in this process. Must be trained in safety requirements of the job including, hazard recognition, PPE requirements and use, respiratory protection, lockout/tagout, and any other safety requirements for employment at Browntown Foundry.
