Position SummaryThe Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care, supervision, and support to individuals with mental health disabilities and behavioral health histories in community-based residential settings. DSPs help individuals develop healthy, socially appropriate behaviors and achieve the goals outlined in their Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and treatment plans.
This position works collaboratively with clinical teams, implements residential interventions, assists with daily living activities, and supports individuals in becoming active members of their communities while maintaining a commitment to RHD’s core values.
Essential ResponsibilitiesAs a Direct Support Professional, you will:
- Provide supervision and support in accordance with each individual's ISP and person-centered support plan.
- Assist individuals in working toward personal goals and desired outcomes.
- Complete required documentation accurately and timely.
- Administer medications according to established policies and procedures.
- Provide transportation to appointments, community activities, and other necessary destinations.
- Support activities of daily living, including:
- Meal preparation
- Personal hygiene
- Toileting
- Household tasks
- Other individualized support needs
- Assist individuals with community integration activities and access to resources, including:
- Medical appointments
- Social services
- Recreational opportunities
- Community-based supports
- Promote independence, dignity, and positive social interactions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic computer and internet proficiency, including the ability to use email, timekeeping systems, and other electronic platforms for documentation and communication.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to successfully complete all required employment screenings, including FBI clearance, where applicable.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in residential mental health, behavioral health, or human services settings.
