About the role
The Shipping Supervisor acts as the critical link between internal inventory operations and external delivery networks, ensuring high-volume outbound goods are packed, labeled, and loaded accurately and on time. This role is a hands-on, fast-paced leadership position that requires managing teams of associates and coordinating with carriers to meet critical deadlines.
What you'll do
- Outbound Operations Management: Oversee picking, packing, and loading operations to ensure 100% accuracy and compliance with customer specifications.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor shipping staff, assigning daily workloads and monitoring performance to meet KPIs (e.g., dispatch timeliness, order accuracy).
- Carrier Coordination: Liaise with carriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL, LTL freight) to schedule pickups and deliveries, managing freight disputes and ensuring timely, cost-effective shipping.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce OSHA safety standards and company policies, ensuring proper use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and PPE.
- Documentation & Systems: Verify accuracy of all shipping documentation, including BOLs (Bill of Lading), manifests, and advanced shipping notices (ASN) using our WMS/ERP systems.
- General Management: Works with other supervisors and managers to do whatever it takes to service our customers and employes.
Qualifications
- 4-year college degree or equivalent preferred. A 2-year degree and 3 years in a position with this level of responsibility is acceptable.
- 3+ years in a position in a large warehouse with progressive supervisory experience
- Effective communication with all levels of employees, peers, and Executive Management.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate many different teams working many different shifts.
- Operates forklifts safely and efficiently, following all OSHA safety regulations.
- Knowledge of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) and other inventory control software.
- A full working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite - Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods and lift up to 60lbs.
