The Office of Student Financial Assistance (SFA) is a department with Student Success and Well Being. SFA is responsible for the administration of federal, state, institutional and private educational funding. SFA works in conjunction with other departments on campus to support student success while ensure regulatory compliance. This position is primarily responsible for the verification of information in students' files, assures the accuracy of financial aid application data in accordance with federal regulations. The Financial Aid Specialist will have basic knowledge of the overall student financial assistance process, skills in communication and counseling, and familiarity with computerized systems.


  • Analyze financial aid documents, make appropriate adjustments, recalculates, and repackages financial aid as needed.

  • Advises and counsels students and parents regarding the financial aid process. Analyzes and evaluates students' financial needs. Advises on availability and sources of financial assistance including Pell Grant, Campus-based aid, federal loans, scholarships, and other programs. Interprets to students the policies, the processes, and the regulations pertaining to financial aid and all aid programs. Counseling occurs through personal interviews, by telephone, virtually, and email communications.

  • Participates in outreach activities and presentation of financial aid information to groups of students, parents, high school counselors, and/or the general public in workshop or training sessions.

  • Other duties as assigned including training, workshops, and/or conferences


Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 0+ years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (2) years financial aid experience
