Job Description
Office of Administration, Division of Accounting (OA-DOA) seeks a qualified professional for the Purchasing and Accounts Payable Unit within OA-DOA.
We are seeking a proactive team player who can apply critical thinking and problem solving in order to assist with the purchasing and accounts payable needs for the 14 consolidated state agencies OA supports.
The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
- Oversight of Purchasing and Accounts Payable functions
- Prepare, audit and approve requests to purchase of goods and services
- Prepare, audit and approve purchase orders using MissouriBuys and SAMI
- Prepare, audit and approve invoices for payment using MissouriBuys and SAMII
- Prepare, review and approve journal vouchers for payment corrections and modifications
- Prepare and approve cash deposits for refunds from vendors to state funds
- Manage Fixed Assets and oversee the physical year-end checkout/reconciliation
- Manage the processing of monthly and quarterly payments for debt obligations
- Monitor and resolve budget and funding issues for purchases and payments
- Assist with other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Working knowledge of the SAM II Financial System
- Working knowledge of MissouriBuys
- Knowledge of Microsoft Access is desired, but not required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, required
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the unit and with other Agencies
- Ability to initiate, process and review reports as needed for various processes
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices and ability to apply them to varied accounting transactions
- Two or more years of experience as a Senior Accounts Assistant with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency
OR
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in Accounting; and, two or more years of professional business or governmental accounting experience including the processing of financial data which requires the interpretation and application of established accounting procedures.
