Job Description
Job Summary:
The Mechanic Assistant supports shop operations by assisting senior mechanics with maintenance and repair of vehicles, tools, and equipment. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals with basic mechanical knowledge who are motivated to learn and grow in a hands-on environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with oil changes, filter replacements, tire repairs, and other basic vehicle maintenance tasks.
- Help dismantle and reassemble mechanical parts using hand and power tools.
- Support mechanics during scheduled and non-scheduled repairs and inspections.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe shop environment.
- Perform safety checks and assist with basic vehicle troubleshooting.
- Help maintain accurate service records, parts tracking, and maintenance logs.
- Support inventory control by checking and restocking parts and supplies.
- Assist with equipment deliveries and service calls as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of automotive systems and repair procedures.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Willingness to learn and follow directions from experienced mechanics.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Dependable and able to work independently when needed.
- Comfortable working in a shop and outdoor environment.

- Safety Focused: Adheres to safety procedures and uses PPE appropriately.
- Team-Oriented: Works closely with mechanics and supports shop operations.
- Accountability: Takes responsibility for assigned tasks and tool care.
- Adaptability: Willing to adjust to changing tasks and shop priorities.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in a shop or maintenance setting preferred but not required.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record preferred.
Physical and Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Must be available to work early mornings, weekends, or extended hours when required.
- May be required to travel locally or regionally for field service support.
