Job Description

Description:

La Cumbre Country Club | Santa Barbara, CA $26.00 – $27.50/hour | Full-Time

Welcome to La Cumbre

Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez Mountains in the historic hideaway of Hope Ranch, La Cumbre Country Club has been Santa Barbara's definitive membership club since 1916. "La Cumbre" means "high place, summit, peak," and delivering that peak experience, on the course, at the pool, on the tennis courts, and throughout our grounds, depends on a Facilities team that takes real pride in the property.

At La Cumbre, we blend the vibrant spirit of Santa Barbara with excellence and a warm community. We're looking for team members who value elegance, courtesy, and a sense of family, ready to contribute to our legacy and elevate every interaction, including the person who keeps everything behind the scenes running exactly as it should.

The Role

The Facilities Manager oversees the operation, maintenance, and safety of the Club's buildings, grounds, and aquatic facilities, including our championship golf course surrounds, six plexi-pave tennis courts, aquatics area, fitness center, and outdoor dining spaces. You'll lead preventive maintenance and capital improvement efforts, manage vendor and contractor relationships, keep an eye on the budget, and ensure our pool and water features meet Certified Pool Operator standards. You'll also lead a team of facilities and pool staff, from hiring and scheduling to coaching and performance management. This is a role for someone who's equally comfortable troubleshooting a mechanical issue and mentoring a team member, and who takes as much pride in a well-run property as our members do.

What You'll Do

Facilities & Grounds

  • Manage day-to-day operations of Club buildings and facilities
  • Build and run preventive maintenance programs
  • Coordinate repairs, renovations, and capital improvement projects
  • Monitor HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems
  • Keep facilities clean, safe, and well-maintained

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and building regulations
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments
  • Maintain emergency preparedness and response procedures

Vendor & Budget Management

  • Select and manage service providers and contractors
  • Prepare and monitor facility operating and capital budgets
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and oversee procurement

Pool & Water Features

  • Operate and maintain pools, spas, fountains, and water features to CPO standards
  • Test and log water chemistry (chlorine, pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness)
  • Perform preventive maintenance on pool equipment and troubleshoot issues

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, hire, and onboard facilities and pool staff
  • Set clear expectations, coach performance, and conduct evaluations
  • Build schedules and manage staffing to meet the Club's needs
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and safety-first team culture
Requirements:
  • Current Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Prior experience supervising a maintenance, facilities, or pool team
  • Working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing)
  • Strong vendor management and budgeting skills
  • A steady, solutions-first approach and comfort managing multiple priorities

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This role moves throughout the property, indoors and out, including mechanical rooms, pool decks, and administrative spaces. You should be comfortable standing, walking, bending, and climbing ladders throughout the day, lifting up to 50 lbs. regularly (up to 75 lbs. occasionally), and working around pool chemicals, varied weather, and mechanical noise. Some evening, weekend, or holiday response may be needed for facility emergencies.

Why Join Us?

  • Santa Barbara Vibes – Relax into an environment where every day feels like a breeze along the coast
  • Our Legacy – Appreciate and add to more than a century of history at one of the region's most storied clubs
  • Uncommon Courtesy – Go beyond basic expectations in every interaction, with members and with your team
  • Family Feeling – Join a community that values togetherness and inclusion
  • High Standards – Strive for excellence and inspire others to do the same

Full-Time Benefits Include: Health benefits, vacation/sick PTO, paid holidays, 401(k) match, LC YOUniversity, free parking, golf, and shift meal

Compensation

$26.00 – $27.50 per hour, full-time.
