Job Description
Description:
The Clinical Report Writer/Data Analyst supports HCS’ mission by transforming clinical and operational data into meaningful insights that improve patient care, regulatory compliance, and organizational performance. This role is responsible for developing reports, dashboards, and analyses using MatrixCare and other data systems.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills (SQL, data visualization, analytics) with an understanding of healthcare quality metrics and a commitment to compassionate, mission-driven care.
This is a variable hour, project-based position.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain reports and dashboards using clinical, financial, and operational data
- Write complex SQL queries to extract, validate, and analyze data from EHR and related systems
- Translate business and clinical requirements into actionable reporting solutions
- Analyze trends in patient outcomes, quality measures, and operational performance
- Support regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., CMS, hospice and home health quality measures)
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across reporting systems
- Develop and maintain documentation for reports, data definitions, and workflows
- Assist with audits, surveys, and compliance-related data requests
- Work closely with the Documentation Specialists and Clinical Educator to identify quality improvement initiatives and support staff training
- Provide training and education on report writing/data integrity to staff as appropriate
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Public Health, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of experience in healthcare data reporting or analytics
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation
- Experience with reporting and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
- Solid understanding of data analysis, data validation, and performance metrics
- Advanced skills in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data modeling)
- Ability to communicate complex data clearly to non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in home health, hospice, or post-acute care settings
- Familiarity with EHR systems
- Experience with ETL processes and data warehousing concepts
- Basic knowledge of statistical analysis methods
- Experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization
