Job Summary
This position Implements, manages, and maintains Epic security systems to ensure proprietary/confidential data and systems are properly protected under corporate standards and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Under general supervision, independently responsible for developing Epic security provisioning, user specifications, clinical operations workflows, application build/configuration, testing, and implementation. Participates within project teams and with end-users to develop and recommend design options. Provides project team support, end-user training, and application maintenance/problem–resolution.
The Epic Security Analyst routinely performs in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with the use of Epic software, is responsible for developing and documenting the internal procedures that are used in conjunction with Epic applications, and designs, builds, tests, installs and maintains those solutions. The Epic Security Analyst is expected to use critical thinking skills in providing systems solutions to meet business needs.
This position is responsible for in-depth knowledge of assigned Epic system software. Conducts regular day-to-day communication, reviews software, demonstrates a deeper understanding of business operations, and works with Epic, project teams, business representatives, Subject Matter Experts, and end users to tailor the system to fit organizational needs.
Participates with clients and internal organizations as necessary to further security and business requirements. Applies Epic product and security knowledge to support peer engineers, analysts, and technicians as they provide protection to UCSF networks. Provides technical services for the support of Epic environment.
Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions
- Oversee build and implementation of security files within all Epic environments and maintain policies and procedures for access to all Epic environments
- Provision application security levels and roles and establishes ownership of each particular security class
- Build, maintain, and proactively monitor security master files for data quality and integrity.
- Provides audit, privacy, and compliance support for Epic security/access related issues
- Coordinate security template, role updates and establishes a security change control process
- Create and maintains procedures to activate, deactivate, and update user records
- Set up, monitor, and maintain multiple security classes for all Epic application products
- Provide production support for hospitals in the system (if applicable)
- Build/manage security classes based on the needs of the practices
- Assign appropriate user roles and profiles to the appropriate users
- Analyzes data based on the end-user requirements and information gathering
- Perform complex analysis, design, development, testing and support services for assigned application applications. Develops testing scripts and participates in testing.
- Advise staff on the functions of security access and user functionality
- Makes recommendations with some guidance and provide alternatives with regards to various development and support initiatives.
- Participates in project planning discussions. Assists in cost estimation, time frames, staffing requirements, and preparation of cost justifications for assigned projects.
- May work on build and design related to Epic MyChart and or video client
- Assist with training as needed
- Provide after-hours support as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Required
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Preferred
- Associate's degree
- Bachelor's degree
Experience:
- Preferred
- One year of experience in Epic software/domain/workflow analysis design/HER application
- One year of experience or knowledge of clinical workflow, practice standards and documentation requirements
- One year of experience as an Epic analyst
- One year of experience in a healthcare setting
Certification/Licensure:
- Required
- Valid Driver's License
- Required for some positions
- Epic Certification related to application
- In order to be adequately prepared and trained to build, test, and optimize the Epic system, Shannon requires that Epic certifications be obtained within ninety (90) days of completion of the assigned required training classes. Required certifications must be maintained as assigned.
