Job Description
Function
Responsible for leading and standardizing environmental compliance and management systems across multiple manufacturing sites. Ensures adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including Title V air permits, hazardous waste (RCRA), water programs, and DOT hazardous materials requirements. Also provides oversight and technical leadership for ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS), ensuring consistent implementation, audit readiness, and continual improvement across all locations. Partners with site EHS Professionals and leadership to drive environmental performance, risk reduction, and regulatory compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight of environmental programs across multiple facilities. Standardize environmental policies, procedures, and best practices across all sites. Serve as the primary subject matter expert for environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives. Partner with site leadership to ensure alignment with corporate EHS strategy and environmental objectives.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with all applicable environmental permits and regulations, including:
- Title V / MACT Air Permits RCRA Hazardous Waste Regulations Clean Water Act (stormwater and wastewater) DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation
- Ensure compliance with Title V permit requirements across all applicable facilities. Oversee monitoring systems (e.g., PDS) to ensure proper operation and deviation response. Coordinate and review stack testing and emissions reporting. Develop and implement engineering and administrative controls to maintain compliance. Train site personnel on permit requirements, monitoring, and reporting obligations.
- Ensure compliance with all wastewater discharge and stormwater regulations. Implement controls to prevent unauthorized discharge of pollutants. Oversee sampling, monitoring, and reporting programs. Drive continuous improvement in water management and pollution prevention.
5.Hazardous Waste (RCRA) Management
- Oversee hazardous waste programs across all sites, including:
- Waste characterization and classification Storage, labeling, and accumulation practices Manifesting and disposal coordination
- Lead implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of ISO 14001 systems across certified sites. Ensure consistency in environmental aspects/impacts, objectives, and operational controls. Participate in internal and external EMS audits and ensure closure of findings. Drive corrective and preventive actions and management review processes. Promote a culture of environmental stewardship and continuous improvement.
- Develop and standardize environmental training programs across all locations. Ensure all employees and applicable contractors are trained on environmental requirements. Provide technical training on permits, hazardous waste, spill response, and EMS requirements. Support development of annual EHS training plans.
- Lead or support investigations for environmental incidents, spills, and compliance deviations. Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions. Track and trend environmental performance metrics across sites. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce environmental risk.
- Standardize environmental emergency response procedures across sites. Verify emergency drills are meeting standard.Verify readiness of emergency equipment and trained responders.
- Maintain environmental data systems and ensure accurate tracking of compliance metrics. Prepare and submit corporate and regulatory environmental reports. Utilize data analytics to identify trends and drive improvements.
- Support integration of environmental considerations into capital projects and equipment design. Ensure new and modified equipment meets environmental compliance requirements. Assist in maintaining SDS systems and environmental documentation platforms. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field. 7+ years of environmental experience in a manufacturing environment, including multi-site responsibilities preferred. Demonstrated experience with managing:
- Title V Air Permits RCRA Hazardous Waste Programs Water/Wastewater Compliance ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
Qualifications Desired
- ISO 14001 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification Experience managing environmental programs across multiple facilities Professional certifications (e.g., CHMM, CSP, PE)
