Job Description

SSMC is a fast-paced, patient-centered outpatient clinic dedicated to providing high-quality care to our community. We’re looking for caring and skilled Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) who thrive in a collaborative healthcare environment and are experienced in ambulatory care settings.

In this role, you’ll provide both direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assist providers during examinations and procedures, and help ensure smooth daily clinic operations. You’ll support patient flow, manage multiple priorities, and contribute to a positive, team-based environment focused on compassionate, patient-centered service.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision

• Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints

• Administer medications, injections, and monitor patient responses

• Perform EKGs, wound care, and other clinical procedures within scope

• Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during exams and minor procedures

• Coordinate patient care, referrals, follow-up appointments, and discharge instructions

• Manage phone triage and patient communications

• Document thoroughly and accurately in EMR/EHR systems

• Maintain infection control and safety standards

• Execute and support individualized care plans with professionalism and empathy

Collaborative Teamwork

This role involves working closely with our Primary Clinic team to deliver effective, patient-focused services in a supportive and inclusive environment. You’ll partner with providers, medical assistants, and front office staff to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Current LVN license to practice in California

• IV certification

• Minimum 2+ years of clinic/outpatient experience required

• Strong knowledge of clinical procedures and patient flow in ambulatory settings

• Proficiency in EMR systems

• Current BLS certification required and maintained

• Ability to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in the English language

• Must be able to put into practice Service Excellence skills with our patients, families, coworkers, and community

• Experience in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics
