About This Position
NOTE: This is an overnight shift, 10pm-6am. Candidates must have 1 year of supervisory experience
In response to the humanitarian crisis at America’s ports of entry, Chicanos por la Causa (CPLC) will be providing short-term shelter care services for unaccompanied children who have come to the United States without a parent or legal guardian. CPLC will provide extremely high-quality, trauma- informed residential and educational services for unaccompanied children, with intense supports for their social and emotional health. We will also ensure they receive excellent and immediate physical healthcare including pediatric, dental and nutritional supports for every child.
CPLC ultimate goal is to ensure every unaccompanied child who receives our services is successfully and quickly discharged into the loving care of their family sponsor and, during the short time they are with us, have received best-in-class medical, therapeutic, recreational and educational services designed specifically to address the traumas they have sustained during, and often before, their migration journey.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Youth Care Worker Lead oversees youth care staff, ensuring completion of assigned duties, adherence to programmatic policies and procedures, and safety standards. The Youth Care Worker ensures the highest quality of safety, security, and sanitation in all residential areas. The lead practices critical thinking skills and effective, timely communication with program leadership to maintain smooth operations and improve workflows where needed, in accordance with CPLC and Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) requirements.
SPECIALIZATIONS
- Effective verbal and written communication skills that meet the requirements of the position and needs of children in care.
- Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized, and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer, common office equipment, and MS Office products required.
- Must have the ability to resolve unforeseen problems with little or no direction from manage.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Education/Background
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent degree and a minimum of 1 year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents.
- Highly Preferred: Associates degree
- Atleast one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Minimum age of 21 years or older.
- English/ Spanish bilingual capabilities required.
- Must possess and maintain a current valid Driver’s License meeting company standards of insurability
Other Requirements
- Proficiency with computers, common office equipment, and MS Office products.
- Must be able to perform emergency behavioral intervention (EBI) for clients in care when necessary.
- Meet the requirements of the contract for all immunizations.
- Clean criminal background check.
- Clean child abuse and neglect or child protective services check.
- Ability to pass a medical examination to determine one’s fitness to satisfactorily and safely care of clients if accommodations are required.
JOB DEMANDS:
- Ability to sit or stand for more than 8 hours per day.
- Must be willing to work overtime, if necessary
- Must be available to fill in positions where needed when asked. This includes support in residential living, educational services, medical services, shower schedules, food schedules, and recreation.
