Job Description

What the position entails:

Success in our Forestry and Environmental team comes from combining strong field expertise, innovative technology, and collaboration. Whether conducting assessments in the field, analyzing GIS data, or working with project teams and stakeholders, you'll help deliver accurate, high-quality results that support responsible land and resource management.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Forestry and Environmental team in executing field projects in accordance with the instructions provided by the client, project manager and or direct supervisor. This position will liaise with stakeholders, complete field assessments, create and analyze GIS data, and assist on a range of projects in the field and occasionally in the office.

What you will do:

    Assist in a range of planning & operations-oriented projects in the field and office.Completing field analysis to support regulatory applications, permitting, vegetation management plans, and timber assessments.Completing watercourse/QAES assessments, wetland delineation, wildlife sweeps & surveys, detailed site assessments.Liaising with stakeholders, regulators, partners, and landowners, obtaining and reviewing third party agreements. GIS data creation, attributing, and analysis.
Job Conditions:

    Travel may be required and possible out-of-town work.Ability to carry, lift and push 50lbs on a regular basis.Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
What you will bring:

    2+ years’ experience working in the natural resource sector and registered (where eligible) with an applicable professional association (eg. PVMA, AAFMP, FPBC, ASPB, AIA).Preferred experience in wildfire mitigation planning, utility patrolling and consenting, vegetation management planning, operational clearing plans.Field experience in wildlife sweeps, surveys, watercourse/QAES, and wetland assessments an asset.Familiarity with Public Lands Act, Water Act, Code of Practice, Wildlife Act, GoA and AER applications an asset.Must be able to perform physical tasks in various outdoor conditions, including lifting equipment, walking over rough terrain, and working in different weather conditionsAbility and willingness to travel for the client, project, and GeoVerra requirements and to respond to situations that occur outside traditional working hours.Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with a strong work ethic and a drive to exceed expectations.Collaborative attitude, ability to excel in a team and independent environment.Commitment to customer satisfaction and service through problem solving, critical thinking and decision making.Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.Superior attention to detail to produce coherent and thorough field notes.Technical, mathematical, scientific, and computer skills including Microsoft office products, Field Maps, ESRI GIS, & GPS.
