Position Overview
The Assembly Lab Coordinator is a hands-on working leader responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Assembly Lab, where Optical Lens Coating and Cleaning Machines are assembled and tested.
Working with the Optical Assembly Supervisor and Operations Manager, the Coordinator supports the execution of production priorities by coordinating workflow, supporting and engaging employees, addressing day-to-day production needs, and remaining actively involved in assembly activities.

What We're Looking For
The Assembly Lab Coordinator is a hands-on working leader responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Assembly Lab, where Optical Lens Coating and Cleaning Machines are assembled and tested.
Working with the Optical Assembly Supervisor and Operations Manager, the Coordinator supports the execution of production priorities by coordinating workflow, supporting and engaging employees, addressing day-to-day production needs, and remaining actively involved in assembly activities.
Reports to: Optical Assembly Supervisor and Operations Manager
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily assembly activities in line with established production schedules and priorities.
- Allocate and adjust day-to-day work based on employee skills, workload, material availability, and production requirements.
- Monitor build progress, identify schedule risks or workflow constraints, and coordinate adjustments to keep production on track.
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence on the floor, clearly communicating priorities, expectations, and operational changes to the team.
- Promote positive team morale, engagement, collaboration, and accountability through regular communication, recognition and day-to-day support.
- Perform hands-on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and system-level assembly and provide practical troubleshooting support as required.
- Support onboarding and hands-on training of employees and mentor less experienced assemblers.
- Coordinate with Purchasing, Stockroom, Engineering, and other departments to address material, documentation, or production issues affecting workflow.
- Reinforce established quality, workmanship, safety, and housekeeping standards, escalating significant or recurring concerns as appropriate.
- Support equipment testing, final inspection, and preparation for shipment.
- Identify opportunities to improve assembly methods, workflow, tooling, efficiency, and standard work.
- Provide timely updates on production progress, constraints, employee concerns, and other issues requiring management attention.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, or industrial equipment assembly.
- Experience coordinating work or supporting teams within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, motivate, and build positive working relationships.
- Strong hands-on technical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
- Effective planning, organization, and ability to manage changing priorities.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and production documentation.
- Strong commitment to teamwork, quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- ERP and Microsoft Office experience; Syspro experience is considered an asset.
