Community Engagement Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Community Engagement Lead based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to shape meaningful relationships between a leading technology organization and the communities impacted by major infrastructure projects.
The Community Engagement Lead will act as a trusted local representative, building connections with residents, leaders, organizations, and public stakeholders.
You will develop strategies that foster transparency, trust, and collaboration throughout the development lifecycle.
Working at the intersection of communications, public affairs, and operations, you will help align business objectives with community priorities.
The role requires strong relationship-building skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
You will have a direct impact on reputation, community partnerships, and long-term engagement initiatives across key locations.

Accountabilities:

The Community Engagement Lead will be responsible for developing and executing community engagement strategies that strengthen relationships, address stakeholder concerns, and support successful infrastructure development initiatives. This role requires proactive communication, collaboration across teams, and the ability to represent the organization in public-facing environments.

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with local leaders, community organizations, non-governmental organizations, residents, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement engagement strategies for current and future development sites.
  • Represent the organization at public meetings, community forums, hearings, and local events.
  • Collaborate with economic development teams to support incentive commitments and community benefit initiatives.
  • Partner with environmental teams to communicate sustainability efforts and responsible development practices.
  • Create proactive communication plans that highlight project benefits, address concerns, and reduce reputational risks.
  • Monitor community sentiment and provide leadership teams with insights on opportunities, challenges, and emerging issues.
  • Develop scalable community engagement frameworks and playbooks that can be applied across multiple regions.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in community affairs, public engagement, or corporate communications, with the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and represent organizations in highly visible environments. Strong communication skills, strategic judgment, and experience working across public and private sectors are essential.

  • 8+ years of experience in community relations, public affairs, stakeholder engagement, or corporate communications.
  • Proven experience engaging diverse community stakeholders for large-scale infrastructure, technology, or development projects.
  • Strong public speaking, facilitation, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive political, social, and reputational matters with professionalism and discretion.
  • Experience incorporating community benefits such as workforce development, education initiatives, and infrastructure support into project strategies.
  • Strong collaboration skills with experience working across government, community, business, and technical teams.
  • Ability to operate independently, adapt to changing priorities, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
