Job Description
Position Overview:
The Project Executive — Medical is responsible for driving business growth through proactive client development, strategic pursuit of new opportunities, and exceptional project delivery. This role is LGE’s primary sales and operational leader for medical construction — combining executive-level client relationship management with full accountability for the medical division’s revenue, margin, and delivery outcomes.
The role requires deep knowledge of healthcare facility types — MOBs, ASCs, behavioral health, urgent care, and specialty outpatient — along with infection control protocols, specialized MEP systems, and phased construction in occupied environments. The Project Executive partners closely with Business Development and Preconstruction to build relationships with health systems, physician groups, healthcare developers, and REITs, leveraging LGE’s integrated design-build model as a key differentiator in pursuit and delivery.
Mission: Drive growth and consistency in LGE’s medical construction portfolio through exceptional project delivery, proactive client service, and operational excellence. Build the market relationships and repeat client base that establish LGE as the leading design-build contractor for healthcare development in the Phoenix region.
Functions of Position:
The Project Executive — Medical is responsible for the fundamental sales, delivery, and leadership activities that drive growth and consistency across LGE’s medical construction portfolio. The role owns the medical pipeline from pursuit through close, oversees delivery of active healthcare projects, and builds and leads the division’s project team.
Duties Include:
Sales & Business Development
- Own the medical construction sales pipeline — identify, pursue, and close new healthcare opportunities across the Phoenix metro area and surrounding markets.
- Lead all pursuit efforts: proposals, interviews, RFQ/RFP responses, and client presentations for MOBs, ASCs, behavioral health facilities, and specialty clinics.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with health systems (Banner, HonorHealth, Dignity Health, Valleywise), physician groups, healthcare developers, MOB REITs, and tenant rep brokers.
- Leverage LGE’s integrated design-build model as a competitive differentiator in every client conversation — emphasizing infection control expertise, schedule certainty, and preconstruction value.
- Maintain active membership in ASHE, BOMA Healthcare, and local healthcare real estate networks; participate in the Phoenix Healthcare Summit and equivalent forums.
- Track healthcare real estate trends across Phoenix submarkets — East Valley growth corridors, Banner health campus adjacencies, and behavioral health facility demand — to identify emerging opportunities before open-market competition.
Project Delivery & Operational Oversight
- Lead multiple medical and healthcare projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to LGE quality, schedule, budget, and infection control standards.
- Serve as the primary executive contact for key healthcare clients, maintaining relationships built on responsiveness and clinical-operational expertise.
- Guide project teams through design coordination, OSHPD/health code compliance, permitting, ICRA planning, construction, and turnover.
- Provide oversight of project budgets, financial reporting, cost forecasting, and gross margin performance across the medical division.
- Oversee coordination with Preconstruction and Design to ensure cost-effective, code-compliant, constructible solutions for occupied and phased healthcare environments.
- Conduct executive-level project reviews and participate in milestone meetings with clients, clinical operations teams, and internal leadership.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor Project Managers, Superintendents, and support staff — maintaining consistency and accountability across medical projects.
- Build out the medical division team in alignment with revenue growth, ensuring staffing anticipates pipeline demands rather than reacting to them.
- Promote and enforce safety, ICRA compliance, quality control, and company process standards on all healthcare job sites.
- Embody and reinforce LGE’s core values of communication, collaboration, proactivity, and quality.
Required Attributes
- Experience: 10+ years in commercial construction, with at least 5 years in healthcare or medical projects.
- Track record: Demonstrated success managing MOBs, ASCs, behavioral health, urgent care, and specialty outpatient facilities — preferably in occupied/phased environments.
- Market relationships: Established relationships with Phoenix-area health systems, physician groups, healthcare developers, and/or MOB REITs; a portable book of business is strongly preferred.
- Healthcare expertise: Strong knowledge of ICRA protocols, specialized MEP coordination, infection control construction, code compliance, and phased delivery in clinical environments.
- Sales acumen: Demonstrated ability to originate and close construction contracts; comfortable leading client meetings, clinical stakeholder presentations, and negotiations.
- Industry involvement: Active ASHE, BOMA Healthcare, or equivalent healthcare construction network engagement.
- Leadership: Ability to lead multiple project teams concurrently with composure and clarity; experience building and growing a team.
- Financial fluency: Business acumen to own pursuit strategy, project budgeting, cost forecasting, and division P&L.
- Technology: Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Travel: Ability to travel regionally as needed for client meetings, site visits, and industry events (estimated 15–25% of time).
Reporting
The Project Executive reports directly to the Regional Vice President and leads the medical division team. Conducts weekly team meetings and project status updates. Participates in executive leadership reviews and business development pipeline meetings.
Evaluation
Annual review by Regional Vice President to include peer and self-input. Reviews will be based on interactions and engagement with the team, delivery performance on active projects, and evidence of how you demonstrate company values, direct involvement in pursuit and client relationships, and revenue generation for the medical division.
