About the Role

The Security Specialist provides personnel security support to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Office of Technology (OTD), by managing security clearance processing, coordinating background investigations, conducting security briefings, and maintaining accurate personnel security records. This position serves as a critical liaison between FBI Security Division, Headquarters personnel, Field Offices, and contractor personnel while ensuring compliance with FBI security requirements and maintaining exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Initiate, process, and track personnel security background investigations utilizing systems including National Background Investigation Services (NBIS), FBI BEAST, Phoenix, and other government security databases.
  • Coordinate with FBI Security Division regarding background investigations, adjudication actions, and Continuous Vetting alerts.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports tracking clearance processing, case status, and program metrics.
  • Prepare routine status reports and provide updates to Technical Points of Contact (POCs).
  • Coordinate with FBI Headquarters and Field Offices regarding fingerprint processing, investigations, and personnel security matters.
  • Conduct Security Awareness Briefings (SABs) and security debriefings or coordinate briefing activities with FBI security personnel.
  • Upload required security documentation into Phoenix and Sentinel systems.
  • Assist personnel with Personal Electronic Device (PED) registrations.
  • Prepare Electronic Communications (ECs) within Sentinel as required.
  • Maintain current security clearance records for contractor personnel and perform regular follow-up activities to ensure timely processing.
  • Support contractor personnel throughout the personnel security process while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Provide comprehensive written correspondence, reports, and security documentation.
  • Provide support as an Access Control Specialist, as required.
  • Ensure all duties are performed in accordance with FBI security policies, procedures, and contractual requirements.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experiencein a security-related field such as:
    • Personnel Security
    • Industrial Security
    • Physical Security
    • Computer or Network Security
  • Demonstrated proficiency using:
    • Microsoft Excel (including complex spreadsheets)
    • Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Microsoft Word
    • Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience utilizing or learning government personnel security systems such as NBIS, BEAST, Phoenix, or Sentinel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver professional security briefings and debriefings.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail while maintaining accuracy in security records and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service while handling sensitive and classified information.
