Job Description

Position Summary

The Fleet & Equipment Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational readiness, maintenance, compliance, utilization, logistics, and lifecycle management of company fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, small equipment, tools, shop facilities, preload operations, yard operations, and inventory systems across multiple Edwards Family of Companies entities. This role provides leadership and coordination for fleet operations, equipment maintenance programs, inventory systems, preload logistics, shop personnel, vendor management, safety systems, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness. The position plays a critical role in ensuring all company assets remain safe, compliant, cost-effective, organized, and operationally ready to support field operations. This role requires strong technical knowledge, operational leadership, independent problem-solving ability, and coordination across multiple departments and affiliated companies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of company fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, small equipment, preload operations, shop facilities yard operations, and inventory management systems.
  • Coordinate maintenance scheduling, inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Diagnose mechanical and operational issues and coordinate repairs internally or through outside vendors.
  • Coordinate equipment and fleet allocation between affiliated companies to maximize utilization and operational efficiency.
  • Manage EFC preload operations to ensure all trucks, trailers, equipment, tools, and materials are properly staged and prepared for field activities.
  • Coordinate daily preloading of fleet vehicles and equipment based on project schedules and operational priorities.
  • Supervise shop operations, yard organization, equipment staging, and inventory control processes.
  • Track and manage inventory levels for tools, equipment, parts, materials, consumables, and operational assets.
  • Manage vehicle and equipment lifecycle planning including acquisition, upfitting, repairs, replacement, disposal, and depreciation tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, CARB, DMV, OSHA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Manage onboard fleet safety systems including GPS tracking, telematics, dash cameras, and driver monitoring systems.
  • Provide operational, safety, and maintenance training for field personnel on fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, and small equipment.
  • Coordinate outside vendors, repair facilities, equipment suppliers, and service providers.
  • Monitor operational expenses, repair costs, fuel usage, and maintenance budgets.
  • Develop preventative maintenance systems and operational procedures to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in fleet operations, equipment management, heavy equipment maintenance, logistics coordination, or related field preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of fleet vehicles, trailers, heavy equipment, small equipment, and shop operations.
  • Experience managing preventative maintenance programs and equipment lifecycle planning.
  • Working knowledge of DOT, CARB, DMV, OSHA, and fleet compliance requirements.
  • Experience with GPS tracking systems, onboard camera systems, and fleet telematics platforms preferred.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities across several business entities and operational teams.
  • Experience with inventory tracking systems, maintenance software, spreadsheets, and operational management platforms preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required.

Work Environment

  • Combination of office administration, shop operations, yard management, preload coordination, and field support activities.
  • Frequent interaction with field personnel, vendors, mechanics, and operational leadership.
  • May require travel between multiple company locations and job sites.
  • Ability to occasionally respond to operational emergencies or urgent repair coordination needs outside standard business hours.

Compensation

  • Expected Pay Range: $100,000 – $120,000 annually DOE • Higher compensation may be considered for highly experienced candidates with extensive fleet, equipment, compliance, logistics, and operational leadership experience.
