GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Operations Manager has complete responsibility for inbound operations, outbound operations, or a cross functional process responsibility within the fulfillment center on a specified shift or across multiple shifts. Your leadership is what makes it happen, every day.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Keep the team SAFE. Our first responsibility is that everyone goes home in the same or better shape than they showed up that day.
- Serve the folks that report up to you with great leadership. Show them you are interested in them and what they’re doing. Listen.
- You will help set operational and financial goals, and you will help us achieve them. Making sure we have accurate daily timecard information is key here. Labor is your biggest operational input, and it deserves to be managed that way.
- You’ll constantly be evaluating and building your team. Sure, people come and go, but you will provide an environment where people want to be vs one where they want to leave. You will have a lot of help with this.
- Coach and teach the people on your team to learn the operation and be ready for opportunities to grow their own careers with Wineshipping.
- Align with enterprise-wide initiatives, such as process changes, operations reporting, and even compete with the other pros at Wineshipping to win the Units Per Labor Hour (UPLH) Championship!
- Delight our customers by hitting their shipping targets every day, building confidence in you, and in Wineshipping.
- Do your best, every day. Only you know when you are doing your best.
- Other things may come up from time to time, giving you exposure to things you haven’t done before. “Other duties as assigned” sometimes, but we like to keep it interesting.
OTHER IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF THE JOB
- Commitment to excellence and high standards, for yourself and for others.
- Good attention to detail – it’s the little things that make the difference in good service and GREAT service for our clients. (The big things matter to them too, just saying…)
- Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal process instructions. Following the process yields reliable results. Clients like “reliable”.
- Strong verbal, written, and phone communication skills.
- Bilingual welcome.
- You may need to work beyond your regular work hours and occasionally on a weekend, if needed.
- Listen well and speak with confidence. For a lot of Wineshippers, you ARE the Company
- Other Cool Stuff- And hey — you might get pulled into other projects too. We’re a team that wears many hats, and yours might be fabulous.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

- Experience with a contingent (temporary) workforce during peak seasons. We bring folks in to help with spikes in demand, and we make sure they know how glad we are to have them with us.
