Accounting Tech in Windsor, Colorado at ATA Services, Inc.

ATA Services, Inc., is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting Technician to join our client, the Colorado Department of Public Safety. This full-time position offers a hybrid work environment, requiring on-site training and monthly on-site visits.

Location: Hybrid - on-site training and monthly on-site visits required

Pay Range: $24.50 per hour

Duration: Reoccuring 9 months

Responsibilities:

• Review payroll records and establish, maintain, and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems.
• Review benefit records and establish, maintain, and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems.
• Maintain general ledgers and financial statements.
• Post journal entries.
• Prepare other statistical, financial, and accounting reports.
• Reconcile accounts.
• Review bills submitted by fire departments for expenses incurred during wildland fire deployments across the U.S.
• Evaluate supporting documentation attached to the bills and apply State rules to determine allowable submissions.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to understand complex pay policies.
• Intermediate or above level of expertise in Excel.
• Excellent communication skills, both email and phone.
• Previous remote work experience.
• Analytical skills and previous experience in Accounts Payable or reviewing detailed paperwork.

Additional Information:

• While there are currently no open permanent positions, many temps have been hired into permanent roles in the past when positions become available. Having temp experience can increase the chances of securing a permanent role compared to external candidates.
